On a trip to the French principality of Monaco, you're liable to see Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and a few Porsches here and there. Few Dodges are ever sighted. But that didn't stop Chrysler from appropriating the name of this glamorous Riviera retreat of the rich and fabulous for its four-door, family-style sedan. It's good to dream big.
The 1991 Dodge Monaco is a roomy sedan, 193-inches long, on a 106-inch wheelbase. This means a lot of interior room for five to stretch out and be comfortable on long road trips. In addition to decent fuel economy for its size, it is pretty zippy and exhibits nice smooth handling on the road. Aside from some new colors and a new ABS option, there were no changes in the 1991 Monaco. The ES and LE trims featured a 3.0 liter, 150-hp V6 engine, and standard interior features such as reclining bucket seats, a tachometer, and an overhead and center console. The ES offered more options, but neither trim came with airbags.
Drivers say their 1991 Monaco is very comfortable and roomy, with a huge trunk, perfect for family outings. It's got nice acceleration and reaches a good clip out on the highway. Other owners complain that the Monaco is unreliable in terms of repair record.
