The 1990 Toyota Camry was virtually unchanged from the previous year. The Camry was getting excellent reviews and had climbed into the number five spot for best-selling vehicles, so Toyota knew not to fix something when it wasn't broken.
The 1990 Toyota Camry was available as a four-door station wagon or sedan. The 1990 Toyota Camry was available in several trims, which included the base model, the DLX, the DLX V6, the DLX All Trac, the LE, the LE V6 and the LE All Trac. The 1990 Toyota Camry gets between 20 and 30 mpg for fuel economy, depending on the engine. The 1990 Camry had a a 2.5-liter V6 with 153 horsepower or a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with 115 horsepower. All models are available with the All Trac all wheel drive system as well.
Drivers of the 1990 Toyota Camry note that their cars, though nearing on 17 years old, their cars have fewer problems than newer models. Camry owners say that will regular maintenance and care, a used Camry will last for years and years.

hated everything about it. Worse car ever. Hoped it would start every morning and there was no power. Gas milage was awful compared with what it was supposed to be. A complete and utter money pit. I hated it so much.Aug 16, 2010

After some added features like the new windshield wiper arms & blades, and the Diehard Gold battery makes this an awesome car. Good overall performance, and even though it is 20 years old it has only 59k original miles on it.Jan 31, 2010

I've looked into 3 1990 Camry's in the used car market in 2000. All 3 are in terrible conditions 2 with engine problem and 1 with transmission problem. For a TOYOTA quality brand name, this is not a choice in my list at all. Worst quality ever. For this period, better go for a higher end Cressida.Jan 06, 2010

I have had my camry for 19 years. I love the car because it is very commfortable and reliable. It take a lickin and keeps on ticking in my book. Problems are very few..just need regular maintenance as all cares. Aside from the wheel wells rusting, it is fine. I get 30 miles per gallon.Oct 10, 2009

Acceleration is quite good (2.0i 16V twincam), handlingb good, brakes good enough, some nesessary repairs what every car has. Appearance: ugly interior but nice exterior. Uses 10 litres gas in 60 miles(100km), maintenance once a year. This car is a joy to drive!Aug 15, 2009

great gas mileage. 37 on highway. 26-28 in the city. 19 year old car but doesn't drive like it is at all. besides rust on the outside wheel wells its in perfect shape. new engine in it and 289,000 on the body and transmission but cant tell from driving it.Mar 24, 2009

It very clean and well taken care of for its age. 5 Speed is fun to drive. Handles well, its a light car. Speakers and head unit replaced with Scion head unit so the sound is good. Got a max. of 44mpg. 282,000 miles and its still running strong. Only wish the body were more protective against rust. Maybe some bondo or a paintjob.Nov 17, 2008

It was handed over from father to son (unwillingly). it has went through what another car would have surrendered to. no mileage nor speed readings are available. because when you are in it, all you hope for is: that it doesn't break down very far from home or explode in your face. Aug 27, 2008

My first car.... my red car. XD - Cost me 2gs.
Obviously I didn't buy this for performance, but for a solid reliable car which I can muck around with. XD
The only thing that came with this car was the nice paint job... which I bought out with some elbow grease with polish and buffing.
The spoiler, wheels and such were added on.
The interior was cracked, I took the whole thing out and replaced it with a stock blue set. The cluster needed to be repaired, switched that over too.
There was a bit of rust on the right hand back door wheel arch, managed to fix that up right, removed the really "boring" mud flaps, scratched pin stripes and resprayed the bumpers red.
Engine work was minimal, but I added a stock RA70 Celica Exhaust to it for fun XD
Anyways... this was the Hottest Camry around. traded it in for 1 grand to get the Euro for my old man. Aug 22, 2008

Wasn't very fast but had a power button LOL
Didn't cost much to buy, almost put no money on it and worked fine...
Changed the rear suspension, the ignition wire, oil pump, wheel cylinder and break line... the exhaust had to be fixed many times and the termostat was stuck open but never changed..
All this in about 5 years :)
Wasn't very fun to drive but always comfortable

I drove our family's old camry for awhile after crashing my 2nd i30, it of course being a 16 yr old car wasn't as nice. It was noisy, weak, required tricks to start soemtimes, and the transmission would slip. It also had plenty of gas fumes. The ride was squishy but the handling grip was amazing. It's simply how this thing would roll like crazy but still grip, just that alone I love.May 07, 2008

160 hp is fairly good for a car 18 years old, and it does have an additional power button,
plus there is an overdrive on/off button in case you need to downshift to 3rd on the
freeway. Gas mileage is decent, but reliability is great. For all the spoiled kids at Dvc that
drive bmw's, benzes and so on, Every dime that's gone into the car in the last year has
been mine, you couldn't even afford a service on yours. And the only service it's needed

Full sentimental alert here. I have no bad things to say about this car. Purchased in 1996 as my first car, I had it for 5 years through college. I sold it with 156,000 miles on it, 50k more than when I bought it. It was very reliable, and only died once when the alternator went out right in front of the dealership. I learned a lot from this car, from how to change my own oil and spark plugs to faulty fuel filters (problem solved for cheap). Very comfortable on the highway, attaining over 30mpg. I've been driving this car for about 3 years now, but its been in my family about 5 years. I have never had one problem with the car besides a blown speaker, but thats because my sister played it to loud. its at 290k miles with all original parts, and it still runs like a dream with good gas mileage.Sep 01, 2007

Recently drove 1990 Camry to Idaho from California where it had been babied for the last 13 years by my 93 year old father. It has 63000 miles and one could eat off the motor, literally. He kept it garaged always and seviced to a fault. Anyway it drives like a new car in all respects with cruise and all the goodies. I've driven the same route in a Geo Metro and needless to say I was so much more rested upon arrival that I was astounded! Guess now I'll throw away my throwaway Metro and stepup to luxury, lol. It has lots of power especially if you add a little high test occasionally. I recently added studless snow tires and it rides like a dream still. White with dark blue original PRISTINE interior. Adding Pioneer player with all the goodies including sattelite and ipod setups, otherwise plan on rims maybe later when spring returns to Idaho. I had replaced with two rebuilt starters under warranty, and then with Toyota rebuilt with same no crank situation. Battery is 12.5 V plus.
