very good car has only left me stranded once the performance is good very reliable gas mileage is pretty good also it is very fun to drive parts arent to bad unless you go with aftermarket stuff i like the look of the coupe better then the hatch Nov 24, 2011

The acceleration/torque is excellent. 240's are quick off the line regardless of whats put into them. No matter what body style of the 240 you have its guaranteed to turn heads! Nissan 240sx are infamous for their "timing chain" problem where you can hear a very faint rattling noise coming from the engine, but besides that the car's engines are built like tanks so very reliable. I give this car a 5 out of 5 on how fun it is to drive with the rear wheel drive theres no real limit to what this car can do.Jul 07, 2011

Tons of fun to drive. Picked it up for $800. KA24E, 5 speed trans. lots of rust
but a strong motor.
Came with a circuit sports 3 inch catback. Custom made rear lower quarter
repair panels, rear left subframe rail, under hood structural support, passenger
rear floor, and a minor spot on the trunk lid. Lots left to do still. With the
addition of a pacesetter header theres much more low end torque. Makes
holding it sideways a bit easier. Infiniti Q45 brakes up front to keep it cool
coming down Mount Greylock.

The single cam engine leaves a lot to be desired. It is fairly peppy, and loves
corners. It gets fairly good gas mileage without loosing the entertainment. It
consistently rattles no matter what all I fix. but I wouldn't trade it for anything

it handles vary well stops quick but lacks power and could use a lsd, all things that could be fixed with aftermarket parts but i just bought an 88 fc3s so odds are she isnt going to be getting shiny new parts any time soon, although you never know. id love to see it get a sr20det and a lsd that would make it better then the fc(for now) Oct 19, 2010

Is super reliable for a 20yr old car.
Pretty cheap to own. I've spent less than $3500 on mine including purchase cost and mods.
It has been a great first car.

picture and cant wait to finish it up so i can start another one! I have spent a good
bit of money on her, but its a 20 year old car... I expect to have to fix some

First off, mine had the sr20DET engine swap from it's Japanese counterpart, the Nissan Silvia. Dyno'd the car at 240whp @ 1 bar/14psi. Car was mainly used for drifting and street racing. Chassis had 190k+ miles, so it was a little worn, but still wasn't falling apart like most cars that age. Car's best 1/4 mile times were 13.1-13.2's. This was with hard springs and street tires :/ Gas mileage was very subject-able to the way it was driven, I saw anywhere from 10mpg - 25mpg.Dec 02, 2009

I love how the car looks and how it drives, from the drivers seat the car is amazing even though the performance is lower than i would prefer. It is also very comforatable inside, although too small for anyone over six feet. The only real complaint I have is road noise, which is very bad.Sep 29, 2009

This car is 20 years old the suspension is dead, but because it of the weight distribution and really low center of gravity it can still handle pretty good. It has naturally good handling. Right now it has 2.4L 4inline KA24E engine it has about 140HP and 145 lb.ft not a powerful engine but still a lot of fun and really reliable. Planing on swapping the engine for KA24DE and Turbo charging it. And replace the suspension of coarse.Sep 07, 2009

it has amazing handling.. pretty good acceleration
it was built strong. it can handle alot
has an awesome body. and interior is pretty roomy for a small sports car
it gets pretty good mileage.
it is one of the funnest cars i've driven.

Bought the car broken, had to rebuild the engine. Good handling. Interior was not the best, it had the automatic seatbelts. Good car for drifting or for a conversion to a turbo motor on a budget. These cars need TLC and work, but when built well, they can move and make good drift cars. The S2000 was a better track car.Jul 10, 2009

The car is a work in progress so for now, the acceleration is ok, its fun to put sideways (rwd), handling is horrible (suspensions shot), interior is ripped apart and getting old, quite rusty but a very good looking car without rust and with very mild bodykits, it seems to be quite good on gas even though it has a miss fire, parts are cheap, and its very fun to drive even though its very obnoxious...Mar 02, 2009

Its a great well built car, performs great stock despite being 20 years old. They're cheap to build and parts are too easy to find now a days. It's a blast to drive and they handle great. I would venture to say that the 240sx is the best bang for your buck out there, if you're looking for a straight up tuner project. I got mine for a steal ($2k w/84k miles), and it already had almost all the bolt-on's I could fit. Parts were super cheap, all the maintenance was done by me (first car-ownership experience) and even though it wasn't as reliable as my current car (Lexus), I drove it extremely hard and it handled the abuse well. Plus, it was the hatchback model so I had tons of trunk space. Overall, for the amount of fun I had with the car, I'd say it was worth every penny.Sep 24, 2008

good stock power great near perfect 50/50 balance good brakes and response well to performance upgrades
car being so old got some rattles here and there but its all good
good gas milage gets 24+ in city with me behinde the wheel go figure

Very affordable and a nice sports car for the young age. With its simplicity it is very stress free to work with. It is just that with cars these age they rust alot unless it has been rustproofed by the previous owner every year. This car is known for drifting and thats what many people buy this car for, if you choose to do that make sure you have some sort of limited slip differential or danger will happen.Aug 13, 2008

This 240 is stripped to the bone and is still undergoing its transformation into a nasty machine, That I hope will give corvettes, Mitsubishi Evo's, And Subaru WRX's/ STI's a run for their money. Hope to have this Machine finished by mid summer. $$$$ is the problem.

I liked it for the short time i did have it. lots of fun to drift around with in the snow. i hade lots of plans for it, i sold most of te parts but kept some in hopes of owning another one
i fixed the drivers side upper and lower control arm, front sway bar, front tension rod. ghetto patched the fuel line. it still needed tie rods. and it burnt oil

Great car for its time. Super fun to drive, agile, plentry of power in stock form (Ka24DE, The SOHC engine is weak, the DOHC is much better and mroe reliable). Handles really nice. RWD. It's like driving a 2 seater sports car and feels like one, but when you need it, you have the option of bring a couple friends in the back if you desire!
