Timing Belt or Timing Chain

Does a 1989 Nissan D21 Pick-up with a 6 cylinder engine have a timing belt or timing chain What is the recommend replacement

1989 Nissan D21 extended cab 4x4

I recently got a 1989 Nissan D@ 4x4 extended cab pick up with a 3.0 engine. I got it for free, it was running well at the time. W had to do some welding on the bed frame and so on, besides the point. While working on it I found the fuel tank had several holes and cracks I replaced the tank. After putting it all back together it will not start, seems like there is no fuel getting to the carb. My questions are. How do I prime the fuel pump, is it a better idea to just replace the whole fuel pump and sending unit and if replacing is the case, where can I find one.

I have a 1989 D21 King Cab 2.4 fuel injected

1989 D21 w/2.4, with 5 speed manual transmission. The vehicle starts for just a second then dies and then will only crank. No spark from ignition. I replaced with remanufactured distributor, distributor cap, ignition rotor, spark plugs. Still same thing starts for brief second, dies and then only cranks. Could not find a troubleshooting tree.
