It all depends on what engine it has. Gas or DIESEL? That year had a great diesel engine (gas too for that matter). So all around its a good truck if the price is right!Mar 14, 2022

Beautiful truck! He had no exterior damage to him. The motor was strong. He hauled everything I needed him to haul. He was my everyday driver when I was in high school. Drove me the 24(Sometimes 48) mile round trip every day without fail, plus some extra driving. Jan 26, 2015

It runs nice for everything being stock. I enjoy the pulling power it offers with the 3 speed trans with the 4/10 rear end gear ratio. The 5.8l V8 sucks on gas (also because of the rear end) but I would rather give up on MPG's than on towing power. Its a XLT LB so interior space is amazing (and im 6,2 so I need it) plus the bed is quite large. Its also a Lariat trim so I love the country style to it. Overall I enjoy the truck quite a bit.Mar 19, 2014

Bought the truck for $800. Used it as everything I needed it for-daily driver for
work transportation, pulling trailers large & small, hauling firewood, as another
tailgate for parties, off-roading, etc... Never got a complaint. The clutch finally
gave out almost two years later, got my money's worth out of it.Mar 27, 2013

great truck definatly a work horse. will pull almost anything as far as loads go. it was a special order truck when it was bought in 89 the truck has a new motor that isnt quite as powerful as the stock motor but there agian with over 600xxx and the new motor has less then 3xxx on it the motors last a long while in them.Feb 18, 2012

I do everything in this truck, pull, haul, play, and gets me from A to B. there is
some rust. the motor runs strong but gas mileage is not the best. the front axle is
the independent parallel bar front axle. i am thinking of putting a lift kit on it but i

its a 4x4 truck with a cab over camper on it. used primarily for hunting, camping and fishing. has a 460 fuel injected engine so its sucks on gas mileage. but i only use it a few times a yearMar 28, 2010

cool paint job -- good suspension -- 351W motor kept blowing up -- otherwise the
tranny and stuff was great -- it could carry anything you wanted with no problem

Great Truck! runs good, pulls good, but I have no overdrive on it and it costs me lots of money for gas! It has a 460 in it and will get up and go! Strong truck for the buck! Very comfortable interior, Paint is fadding.Sep 14, 2009

I absolutely love this truck. It has always run great. The only
things we have ever done to it is change the plugs, wires, oil,
replace the fuel pump in the front tank and replace something
in the steering column. This truck is tough and the engine is a

It is a good over all truck. It will pull almost anything. Has lots of interior room. How ever it is old and out dated. It is chep and relible. it has 209,000 miles on it and still runs great! however it is a diesel so it is nosie and smokes.Jul 26, 2008

I used this to plow snow, it caught fire & burnt, before that it ran ok, I loved off roading with it, & it was a nice, high truck, no load was to large. 4X4 was very good in the snow.Feb 21, 2008

89 F-250 5.8 4x4 Runs rough
As i was driving it the truck kept losing power. Finally got to a point it wouldn't run to move it. The hose from EGR down to exhaust blew apart. I have replaced that.... converter isn't plugged. We have replaced oxygen sensor, MAP sensor, EGR. We have new fuel pump, the correct fuel pressure. Truck will start and stay running now but rough. Plugs if pulled will be wet like it is flooding out but when we add carb cleaner it smoothes out and runs fine. Any suggestions on why it would run so rough? Like the fuel to oxygen level is out of balance..... what else could we check?
