Repair fuel in my air box.
I have a 87 prelude I am getting fuel in my air box half way up the fiber . Soaked in gas.?

The 1987 Honda Prelude, the last in the landmark second generation Prelude, remained unchanged for the model year.
The base 1987 Honda Prelude came with a 100-horsepower, 1.8-liter four cylinder engine. The Si upgraded to a 2.0-liter. It also had a spoiler and plenty of interior features, like power windows and doors, cruise control, and a graphic equalizer on the sound system.
Drivers say the 1987 Honda Prelude is fun to drive, lasts forever, and looks good. The only complaints are about the tiny back seat and lack of cup holders.

I bet if this car was in good condition when I bought it, it would've given way
better reviews.... The acceleration, braking, and handling was still on point - even
with a bent rim lol. It needed serious repairs, but only because someone failed to
maintain her. The appearance was beautiful. I love those pop-up light sportscars
from the 80's lol. It would've been pretty decent on gas. It was great to drive while

Ok, so it wasn't a dream car. But Hondas are built very tough, and this was a prime example. For something from '87, a lot of it was still pretty intact. The engine seemed as if a tweak here and there, and it would've performed better. Handling was ok. Lightweight makes for good project car. It was definitely a blast to drive.Nov 19, 2009

I Love my 1987 Honda Prelude SI! It's sporty, hugs the road, tons of fun to drive. Different enough to be noticed, but not so different as to stand out! I figured out a couple years ago that "my little car" gets like 43mpg! Awesome when the gas prices go high! I just replaced the motor & tranny (one necessary, one not) and believe it or not, I purchased both of them fully rebuilt for only $350 each! Apr 02, 2009

looks great getting high performance engine built, 17" rims next spring it is older so it has some rust but i hid it w/ new paint and crome fender trim i paid $2200 two years ago worth aboot $3000 now untill i get the $6000 220 hp custom, balanced and bluebrinted engine then i should be able to get at least $5000 for it but i will NEVER SELL IT!!!!!!!!Aug 24, 2008

Awesome braking, accelerating, and handling, even as a 2.0 S trim. Engine was a bad design however. a Honda mechanic once told me it was "the worst engine Honda has ever made". Carb is known go bad by 100k miles. Other than the engine it had a nice interior, and an overall nice feel. I would recommend the Si trim for the better, EFI'd engine.
Has "Corvette Style" flip forward hood. Extorior style is easy on the eyes, which may be moot coming from an 80's auto enthusiast.Jan 06, 2008

My son just acquired a 1987 prelude. The guy he got it from had just replaced the clutch, but now 5th is non existent and reverse is hard to get into. Is this a clutch adjust issue or a new transmission issue? Any suggestions are much appreciated

how do you change the transmission fluid on a 1987 honda prelude si?
My prelude recently ran low on tranny fluid and now im trying to find out where the dipstick is to refill the transmission. ive looked up and down the car engine and havent found anything except a hole on the transaxle that was capped but had no dipstick. can someone please tell me exactly where the fill up spot is before i go crazy?

Im Zeb. Honda ex 1.8 Car not charging
The charging light stays on and the batteryruns flat, the altanator was checked n tested good at 3 different auto electricins but the light stays on. The last guy suggested that i check the regulator but i dont know where to look
