It was a brilliant car, better than my current commodore.
I wish that I never got rid of it. I took it everywhere, it didn't owe me anything and it got me whereever I wanted to go.
I am thinking of getting another one after I get rid of my current one. We'll see.Feb 20, 2010

great performance, cheap and easy to fix when you run into the back of a hyundai(whoops ;-)
looks good on the outside, usually always needs the interior cleaned
ridiculously fun to drive with the 60mm wastegate/screamer pipe
things on my to do list are
bigger brakes
bigger injectors / fuel system
3grand stall converter and a shift kitOct 19, 2008

Has an RB25det .... Goes quick, stops quick. Sounds awesome. Gets heaps of thumbs ups from random people. I love it. This is my fun vehicle.
On the other hand, it is unreliable and old, and a bit rattly, hahaha.Jul 14, 2008

The VL is considered by some bogan enthusausts as one of the most reliable commodores out there(maybe because it was the only model to have a nissan skyline engine in it). It runs on beer, pies, a heavy dose of AC/DC and Mettalica. Everything that was made by Nissan (the engine) was fantastic, everything else that was made by holden (the rest of the car) was rubbish. The electronics didnt work, the odometer said 99999999 which it really didnt do, at times the speedometer didnt work so you had to guess what speed you were doing. The fan only worked on the rare random times(just when you didnt need it) and just by slightly pushing on the accelerator you could hear a few more endangered species dying from your carbon emissions!Mar 28, 2008

Runs on Nissan RB30 engine, which are very reliable and dont use oil or water much at all.
The 3.0 litre delivers good power and can be fun to drive in the wet, with the rear wheel drive Borg Warner salisbury type powertrain.
Widely used in Australia and New Zealand for circuit and drag racing, with some top pro street examples out there.
The main picture is the winning vl commodore of Win Percy and Allan Grice from the famous Bathurst race in 1990.
Cars make good towing cars, circuit racers and drag cars, with a selection of top pro street models also out there.Jan 19, 2008

Nice car to drive if you dont pull the steering wheel out. Perfore's as well as car's ten year's younger than it, and that in first gear wish will wind out to about 90kmh, while other car's are half way through secoundJan 07, 2008
