Overall I like my truck and would recommend the model to anyone looking for a project. It takes me camping, fishing, back and forth to work. The 2.4L engine is a strong engine with proper care, it will last a long while.May 06, 2015

This is the kind of pick truck that appeals to those of us who like to do our own work. The platform is forgiving and reasonable for access and modifications. The overall summations is a project vechicle for fun and practicality. The main component is the 1973 Okanagan Camper.Mar 30, 2015

With only 230k on the odometer and a recently rebuilt engine (close to 60-80k on the rebuild), this truck is awesome! Driving rationally it gets around 17 or 18 miles per gallon in the city (US mpg) but then jumps to around 28-30 on the highway; this truck makes great for an eco-commuter (as in want to save gas) but then you can walk around the back and put this thing to work! Mine is the SHORT bed model, and the truck bed is still 6 feet, some-odd inches long (I am 6' and can lay down in it with about 2-3 inches both above my head and below my feet) - even some mid-1980s "FULL SIZE" trucks don't have a bed that big for a "short bed"! Use the truck for economical purposes or work, or you could even try to take it to the track! My engine (Z24i - 2.4L 4 cylinder, twin spark plug, throttle body injected) is only rated at around 130-140ft-lbs of torque and 100-110 hp and yet it will stay in the running with most factory V8s (up until the mid-2000s, not the modern ones that make 300-500 horses right out of factory). I've tested on multiple occasions and have consistently performed a 0-60mph run in around 8 or 9 seconds (when I don't mess up those shifts!), which for a four cylinder is actually pretty good. Peppy little thing likes to be put at wide-open throttle. My only complaints are that it tends to wander TOO MUCH and the parking brake. I'm not sure if it is because I need an alignment (which I know I do) or not, but when I hold the steering wheel to go straight, it will occasionally suddenly change "pitch" and start to wander, so I am constantly correcting the steering wheel to stay straight. The parking brake just won't work in my truck. I have checked my rear drum brakes (damn close to new), have had them adjusted, and then had the cables adjusted and then I went and did the adjustments myself (to be honest, I do not trust close to 90% of mechanics in my area) and even with the parking brake linkage/cables adjusted to as tight as they can get, the parking still wouldn't engage until the last 2 or 3 clicks of the entire handles throw and won't hold for crap when parking on a hill --- so basically, I have to depend entirely on my engine, gears, and tires (on the curb) to not roll when parking on hills. Somebody has told me this caused by air in the proportioning valve and that a simple bleeding will do the trick, so I will try that eventually. Another complaint is the rear window (sliding) tends to somehow open up, so it will sit there and rattle until I open further or close it. The passenger side window sounds like there is a screw mashed against it when you try to roll it down/up and makes an ear-piercing screech. The driver's side window will physically shake in place when rolled down which makes for a small scare when dealing with wind-resistance at highway speeds (70mph). The front windshield is filled with cracks and chips ..... so basically, all of the windows in mine need looking at and/or replacing, which is going to be spendy. Overall, still one bad-a** truck and hope it will last me another 200,000 miles.Apr 28, 2014
