My brother owned one of these and it was at least tough. It needed to be with my brother! They're essentially tough and reliable cars - performance from the legendary flat-four is quite spirited, and fuel consumption is good. Bodywork is tough, and trim levels are high. The biggest issue is when it did a head gasket and my brother drove it until it stalled. Overhauling the engine with new head gaskets solved the issue and it soldiered on for a few more years. Very comfy to drive, soft seats and good ride. Handling was ok, but nothing special. As my brother also proved, they bounce off buildings - many times!Jun 19, 2008
