1982 Honda Prelude Preview summaryImage

The Prelude, Honda's quirky coupe, stayed the same for 1982, the last year of the first generation.

The 1982 Honda Prelude came with a 1.7-liter, 72 horsepower four cylinder engine, which was Honda's most powerful. Though it had a backseat, it was for all purposes a two-seater. The Prelude came standard with a five-speed manual transmission and was available with a three-speed automatic... (more about the 1981 Prelude)

The 1982 Honda Prelude had some very loyal fans who are still driving their Preludes today. However, the Prelude was still a little too rough around the edges, and most car shoppers passed it by.

Performance- Accelerates quick, has really good braking and hadling. Build Quality- The engine needs some work, but it's good overall. Appearance- Car looks mean, inside is nice as well. Cost of Ownership- 32 mph, not hard to work on. Fun Factor- I would live in this car.Sep 22, 2010

Bought a used one in 1986. Loved it and sold it with about 200k miles and running strong. I love the look of the car and found another one in 2003 that only had 42k miles. Someone recently pulled out in front of my son and now insurance company says it is a total loss. I want to fix it but body shop says they can't find parts. Miss it already.Mar 16, 2010

This was a great car! It handled well, and more importantly, wore well. Even at 200,000 miles, it was still solid. No squeaks or rattles, no leaks, and only minor repairs. It had the classic style that I preferred before the Prelude went to the "wedge" shape.Sep 14, 2009
