The big news for Ford's 1982 truck line was the introduction of the Ranger compact pickup. Despite the new truck's appeal, the 1982 Ford F-150 continued to dominate the American and international markets.
Trimlines for the F-series trucks were renamed to avoid confusion with the company's new offering; you'll find the 82 Ford F150 in the XL, XLT, and XLT Lariat trims. Other configurations remained constant, with the variations in cab (extended cab, supercab, 2-door, 4-door), bed length (short-bed and long-bed), and a choice between styleside and flareside all available to buyers of the 1982 Ford F150.
This sturdy workhorse continued to be popular with off-road hobbyists, as well as bringing reliability and power to ranch and farm. Tuners prize the muscle and durability of this rugged truck today; the 82 Ford F-150 is still a favorite project truck for four-wheelers and street cruisers who want the solid feeling you only get from a half-ton of Detroit steel.

Bought from original owners...been in their family since new...well cared for and just what daughter wanted for her first vehicle...how can you go wrong...nice to have a truck around when ya need it and this truck fits right in.Apr 18, 2015

Runs great, fairly practical (averages about 17 mpg), classic look, overall a great truck that can still hold it's own on the job with just a 2wd v6, would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a classic, practical truck that can still get the job done.Feb 12, 2014

This old truck was my first truck i ever drove. it was a fun old truck. i would have no trouble driving it anywhere, if the timing hadnt jumped. but it is gone now, and i have a new truck.Apr 18, 2012

I have a 1982 F150 XL, no rust, straight 6 cyl., 4 speed trans with 62K original miles. The truck has been in the family since new. I wax it once a yr and wash about monthly. The truck starts first crank and has been very dependable. Insurance is cheap, gas mileage is not great, but overall cost of ownership is reasonable. The truck handles well, accelates good for a six banger, braking could be better. The oil is changed every 3,000 miles, but the truck has never been tuned up. The truck is fun to drive. I get many people offering to buy it if I ever want to sell it. Hope it last another 20 years that should about do me. Jan 18, 2011

An oldie but a goodie, looks like crap but it runs great. Not great acceleration, but
ive had the speedometer buried. Stops great now that i have new tires. the

i really like my truck the performance is slow as its running a stock 300cu which has been modified the following has now been fitted offenhouser inlet manifold edelbrock 600 carb eagle back headers uprated oil pump mallory duel point distibuter and mallory coil clifford alloy valve cover next to be fitted is a eaton m112 supercharger the build quality is not bad it does need some work the wood floor in the back is in need of some tlc the appearance is good its a flairside its fitted with a set of 8x15 front and 10x15 daisy mag that really do set it off cost of ownership is good as i do all my own maintenance and its really fun to driveNov 24, 2009

this truck gets me from point a to point b thats what matered at the time i paid 1500 for it i actaully got a good deal cause the i-6 engine had just been rebuilt but i needs alot of exteroir work alotMar 28, 2009

This truck is one of the best i have owned. The motor dose seem kind of slugish when it is cold out but once the temp gets to about 35 it have much more power. It is a gas hog I'm lucky to get 8-9 MPG but I still love it. The body is starting to rust but it is cheap to repair from a junk yard or one of the catologs for it. Feb 08, 2009

My truck is the worst pig on gas in the world but its definately got class. Everything about this car is pretty much bad but the best thing is how he got his name. My trucks name is "OLD RUSTY"...if you live in winnipeg you may have seen him. He got his name one day when my step dad was washing him and the pressure washer blew a hole in his side. My mom then preceeded to paint "OLD RUSTY" on his side. Its super fun to drive though.Sep 22, 2008

My husband LOVES this ugly truck. I hate it and wish he would by a new one but any part he wants for it costs little or nothing. He can sit in the thing under the hood to work on it and you cant kill it for anything. It is a pure steel beast. Apr 19, 2008

The truck was very unreliable, had major defects in the paint and body, but the motor was very powerful for a I-6. I wouldnt reccommend the 2-wheel drive version , but the 4x4 version would make a good work truck if regularly maintainedApr 01, 2008

I recently purchased my F-150 from my father who has owned it for the last 5 years. It is a 302, auto 4X4. It seems way under powered compared to my '95 Ram 1500 with a 318. I do like the stance it has sitting on 31X10.50s though. For a 72,000 mile truck I can't complain.Nov 02, 2007
