I had two. '76 two-door 4-speed. Very aerodynamic. Great on
ice and snow in Wisconsin. Lots of little problems but nothing
major. Loved it and drove it for 13 years. Also had a 76 four
door automatic. Lots of little quirks. Klunky transmission. Got
rear-ended by a Jeep. Demolished the front end of the Jeep,
put a teeny scratch on my rear bumper. Jun 07, 2010

Saab was nice car to drive, very confy, and warm during winters. Performance was adequate, but due to the high mileage when I got it, it had quite many technical failures. Hand break turns were out of the question because it affected to the fornt wheels. Nevertheless, it was my first car so I have good memories about it. Finally, I changed the car to wireless telephone/answer machine combination before the army and I got better money from the phone than I would have got from the car...Jan 27, 2010

The Saab 99 EMS was a fabolous car for its time. It came just before Saab released the classic Saab Turbo. I had a 1976 model, and it was brown metallic. I really loved its performance - when it worked! It broke down on the highway once; the entire exhaust pipe shook loose in about 90 km/h. A sudden, huge and low tone was added to the coupé, as if a large boat honked its horn or something. Took a few seconds to realize it was my own car making the noise. Then came the whipper engine; broke. When rain poured down, I had to stop on the highway (again) to wipe the window and try to manually start the whippers. My ex girlfriend thought it was hilarious. I did not. Soaked and worried about the car, I made a song about non working technique, and how I hated it. Other things that happened? Well... the driver's seat also came loose, so my ex laughed again. But it was a nice time, anyway. I'd buy a 99 again if I had the garage space, because they're fun to drive. Having said that, I had a 99 again, later on, but it wasn't as charming as this one.Aug 11, 2008

Had a lot of fun with this car. Not very fast but it handled well. I added a Porsche style wale tail which is pretty lame now but didn't seem like it at the time. Steering was awesome. Heated Seats. Sunroof. Great memories.Feb 01, 2008
