I just got a 75' mercury comet and I'm being told the biggest engine I can put in it is a 302L and I'm wondering if this is correct

in construction. wont be done for quite awhile. needs more time and money. was my first vehicle and have had it ever since. will not be taken back to stock form. will turn it into what i want it to be. May 24, 2010

I have a 75 mercury comet and every time I start it the fuse blows to the alternator, making the light go the next time I start it, so first start, the fuse blows, but the light comes on the next star
Any help or ideas would be appreciated, I've used about 15 fuses
