Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so some ppl might find it fugly ... but i actually think it has great lines & that classic porsche front. The problem is the fat trunk hence the name "squareback". It does 0-60 in 17 secs, which is not bad for a 3000 pound car with a 4cylinder 1600 CC engine. Braking is quite good & it handles fairly good. & it's definitely easier to park than a beetle. Build quality is more than excellent. I dont think any other car has a clutch cable that could last 35 years without braking & it also has one of the best heating systems ever made by volkswagen. the interior is very cosy with lots of legroom. & with the pancake engine in the back... i have more storage space than any estate car made. It does a very clean 25 miles per gallon & it can go almost anywhere. it puts most bigger cars to shame in snowy/cold weather. All & all, it's a very reliable car that captivates you very fast & since it's an air cooled vw... maintenance is almost something you might forget about. Oct 06, 2008
