A classic in design by a french man of couse. possiblly one of the last cars built to a level of quality not cost.
Features 4 speed auto.aircon, electronic fuel injection (bosch) disks all round, IRS double wishbone front end. A fantastic M110 motor with twin cams and and a very respectable 185 HP not bad for 1973. My car is in the resore stage, no rust and I have just finished the engine rebuild and front subframe refit. should be on the road mid 2011.Jan 01, 2011

She came directly from Sicily and I swapped her for my eternal 1980 Opel Rekord E Rappold hearse in late 2004. Equipped with a powerful V8-engine and a 4-speed manual transmission, she was very agile (or should I say "hazardous"?). I obtained street-legality according to German regulations and drove her for a few months, until I sold her to a collector in Southern Germany in early 2007. Really loved this hearse, but it was quite pointless and impractical. Beautiful, but completely ungifted, just like Verona Feldbusch... Oh, did I mention the bloody rotten paintjob?Jun 02, 2010

I love driving this car. I bought it for my daughter for her first car. Took care of a few minor issues ( I have a good mechanic, a must with these cars) and Lady280 has been a joy. It is made to cruise, not race or zip, like a stately ship. It is comfortable, quiet, and very soothing to drive. I have begun to learn to do routine maintenance items on it.
Thinking of giving my new car to my daughter as a graduation after senior year of college and taking this for mine.
Gas mileage isn't great (16 to 18), but everything else makes it a perfect car for Dad. I just love it. Feb 07, 2009

I nice classic car. Very smooth ride with all the creature comforts. It had an inline six but wasn't very fast off the line but a great cruising car. No real issues with it other than some rust started to show.Dec 30, 2008

A gorgeous classic! This thing ran like a top at 250k miles, got 22 mpg, had AC, power everything, cruise control that all worked 23 years after the thing was built. Amazing. It was built to last. It also was a solid piece of machine with a dual carb 6, huge disc brakes, alloys, limited slip diff. I loved it. I sold it for $500 more than I bought it for after a couple years. I wanted someone to own it who wouldn't destroy it like I would.Aug 08, 2008

On a 1973 Mercedes 280 (stored in a garage since 1992!) when the battery is connected the drivers side front and rear running lights stay on even with the ignition switch off. Any ideas why?
On a 1973 Mercedes 280 the drivers side front and rear running lights stay on even with the ignition key removed. Passenger side lights turn off properly.What switch or junction box could cause this, and where is it located? Could it be mouse chewing damage to some wire?

Hi: I have a 1973 280 with the six cylinder gas and 4 speed auto trans. It had been sitting for some time, but have it running now. There is a slight delay going into reverse, and it jumps a bit when shifting into the next gear forward. Also, by counting the shifts, it seems to be in 4th, but at 40 or 50 mph it seems to be revving way too high?
