The car is quick but not a very high top speed. Typical old car, but easy to work on. Love the styling but my paint sucks..one of these days It'll be redone. It gets decent mileage, even with a hot rebuilt engine. And of course, it's fun as hell to drive!Jan 06, 2010

its old and needs some minor body work but well see where it goes from there. has
been sitting for a long time and needs whole interior work, so this will be a
restoration project for a hands on, to get me started on maybe becoming an
autobody mechanic. hopefully well see how the rear engines are to fix.Jul 19, 2008

Beautiful with the top up or down. Changed all the suspension bushings to racing-grade nylon, so it handled like a go-cart on rails. Minor engine tweaks - very reliable, decent gas mileage, turned heads everywhere. Actually saw someone wreck into a mailbox looking at my car!May 27, 2008

The corvairs were created in 1960 to compete with the new, tiny, rear-engined VW beetles. For a while, the cars were immensely popular, but when Ralph Nader's book came out "Unsafe at any Speed", many americans were convinced that the corvairs were death traps. Coincidently, 1965--the year the book came out--was the same year that GM addressed many of the car's complaints, such as its sub par suspension and steering column, which Chevrolet entirely replaced.
