2025 Hyundai KONA Electric: Where Technology Meets Value

Reliable electric efficiency at an affordable price

The 2025 Hyundai KONA Electric stands out as one of the more affordable electric SUVs on the market today. Just because it comes in at a lower base price than many other electric SUVs doesn’t mean the KONA Electric is lacking. Many of its standard features are the kind of helpful, high-tech conveniences you’d expect to find on models priced higher.

Combine all this with the potential to save money on gas, and the peace of mind that comes with a 10-year/100,000-mile Limited Battery Warranty[1], and the KONA Electric looks like an even better deal.

A long list of standard features and technology

Buying a new car with a competitive base price can sometimes mean living with a lack of standard equipment, right? Not if it’s a Hyundai.

For example, every KONA Electric includes Vehicle to Load (V2L) capability[2], essentially turning your vehicle into a mobile power source. Plug the available V2L accessory into the charging port, and you can power external electric devices that draw up to 16 amps.

A car guru, happy to have purchased a car.

Standard heated side mirrors help prevent fogging on humid mornings, while LED turn signals, taillights, and daytime running lights give the KONA Electric a sophisticated, tech-forward look. One high-tech trick you can’t see while driving, but will definitely benefit from, is active aerodynamics. Shutters built into the front grille open when extra cooling is needed (like when crawling along in traffic on a hot summer day) and automatically close during highway cruising, making the KONA Electric aerodynamically slick and efficient.

Inside, every KONA Electric gets premium tech, with a 12.3-inch Touchscreen Navigation[3], wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™[4], and an additional 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster. Hyundai Pay[5], built into the touchscreen, lets you securely pay for parking at more than 6,000 locations across the country.

Dual-zone automatic climate control helps keep the peace between driver and passenger, and includes an auto-defog mode. There’s also a driver-only mode so you don’t waste energy keeping an empty passenger seat nice and cool on the commute home from work. The WiFi hotspot capability and four USB-C ports keep everyone connected and charged on the go[6].

Advanced systems to help keep you safe

Even the entry-level KONA Electric comes equipped with a full suite of Hyundai SmartSense features, including:

Highway Driving Assist[7]: helps keep the car centered in its lane and helps reduce driver fatigue during long drives, working in conjunction with Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control and other advanced safety features.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist[8]: monitors the area behind the KONA Electric when in reverse and can detect other vehicles and pedestrians. It can warn you with both flashing lights and sounds, and if it detects an imminent collision, it can automatically hit the brakes to help prevent an accident.

Blind-Spot Collision Warning[9]: keeps a watchful eye on your blind spot to see what you might not, and warns you if it detects something’s there when you’re about to change lanes. Beyond that, it can detect if a vehicle is quickly approaching from behind in the next lane.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Junction Turning, and Direct Oncoming[10]: monitors the road ahead using a camera and can detect other vehicles, bicyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians, and can apply the brakes if needed. The Junction Turning feature helps when turning left at an intersection by keeping an eye on oncoming traffic and adjacent lanes.

Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go[11]: maintains a set following distance between you and the vehicle in front of you and, as traffic inevitably slows down, so does the KONA Electric. It can come to a complete stop if necessary.

Surround View Monitor with Dynamic Parking Guidance[12]: gives you a view of what’s behind you and offers visual lines to help you put your KONA exactly where you want it.

A car guru, happy to have purchased a car.

Performance, range, and charging speeds

The 2025 KONA Electric SE offers an EPA-estimated 200 miles of range while producing up to 133 horsepower, and higher-end trims top out at up to 261 miles and up to 201 horsepower[13]. Additionally, all KONA Electrics come with up to 188 pound-feet of instantly available torque. For added driving fun and improved efficiency, steering wheel paddles let you adjust the level of regenerative braking.

Every KONA Electric can go from 10% to 80% battery charge in as little as 43 minutes with a 400V fast charger[14]. Long journeys don’t mean long wait times.

Put simply, the Hyundai KONA Electric isn’t only competitive on purchase price; it offers state-of-the-art tech and comes with all the assurance you’ve come to expect from Hyundai. You’ll have reliable efficiency for many years to come.

[1] The Hybrid/Electric Limited Battery Warranty covers defects in the factory workmanship or materials of the vehicle's lithium battery for 10 years from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use, or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Coverage does not apply to lease and commercial vehicles or vehicles serviced or registered outside the U.S. See your Hyundai dealer and your Owner’s Handbook for complete warranty details and limitations.

[2] Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) two-way charging will deplete battery and become inoperable once battery discharge limit reaches 20%. Not all electrical appliances will operate properly when using this feature. Do not use products that require a continuous power supply, and only use appliance under 16 amps. Additional limitations apply. See Owner’s Manual for more details.

[3] Never program touchscreen navigation while driving. GPS mapping may not be detailed in all areas or reflect current road regulations. On trim levels where navigation system is available but not a standard feature, it is available as part of a specific options package. Not available on all models. See dealer regarding availability.

[4] Apple CarPlay is compatible with certain Apple devices. For a full list of compatible devices, please visit apple.com/ios/carplay. CarPlay is a registered trademark of Apple Inc. Android Auto is compatible with Android phones running Android 6.0 or higher. Android Auto may not be available on all devices and is not available in all countries or regions. Additional apps may be required. Android and Android Auto are trademarks of Google LLC.

[5] Hyundai Pay is available on select 2021-2026 model year Hyundai vehicles equipped with Bluelink and touchscreen navigation. Requires an active Hyundai Bluelink mobile app account, subject to the Connected Services and Hyundai Pay Terms and Conditions. Cellular and GPS coverage is required. Only use Bluelink features and corresponding devices when safe to do so. Valid Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card must be linked to Hyundai Pay. Credit card eligibility and terms are determined by the card issuing bank. Hyundai Pay is currently accepted at select gas stations, charging stations and parking facilities (collectively, “Merchants”) in the U.S. Participating Merchants may not operate in all states or locations. Additional Merchant terms and fees may apply. Features, specifications, fees and availability are subject to change. Visit owners.hyundaiusa.com/resources for more information.

[6] Requires active data plan from Verizon and acceptance of Hyundai Motor America Connected Services Terms and Conditions. Coverage and service are not available in all areas. Wi-Fi hotspot is intended for passenger use only. Only use Wi-Fi and connected devices when safe to do so. See https://www.verizon.com/plans/connected-car/ for terms and conditions.

[7] Highway Driving Assist (HDA), is for highway use only and can help keep the vehicle centered in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead only when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road and should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic, or on winding or slippery roads. HDA will not work under all circumstances and will not prevent loss of control. Driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.

[8] Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) can alert the driver of a potential collision by providing an audible warning and/or applying braking. RCCA is active when the vehicle is in reverse and operating at low speeds. Never rely exclusively on RCCA. RCCA cannot prevent all collisions and may not provide alerts or braking in all conditions. Always look over your shoulder and use your mirrors to confirm rear clearance. There are limitations to the function, detection, range and clarity of the system. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.

[9] Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) assists the driver by warning of other cars in the blind spot region. It senses the rear side territory of the vehicle when it is traveling over 25 mph. There are limitations to the function, range, detection and clarity of the system. It will not detect all vehicles or objects in the blind spot. Its operation depends on the size, distance, angle and relative speed difference between your car and other cars. BCW may not operate if sensors are obscured in any way. Do not rely exclusively on BCW. BCW is a supplemental system and the driver must still be attentive and exercise caution when driving. It is the driver's responsibility to be aware of the surroundings and ensure it is clear before changing lanes or directions. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.

[10] Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian, Cyclist, and Junction Turning Detection and Direct Oncoming (FCA-JT DO) is intended to be a supplement to safe driving practices. The system is not designed to detect certain stationary objects such as trees or poles, and may not detect all vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists under certain conditions. The system’s Junction Turning function operates when the vehicle’s left turn signal is activated, the vehicle is traveling between approximately 6-19 mph and the oncoming vehicle’s speed is between approximately 19-44 mph. The system is a driver assistance system and is not a substitute for safe driving. The driver is responsible for being attentive and maintaining control of the vehicle, and should not wait for the system's alerts before braking as there may not be sufficient time to brake safely. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations.

[11] Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) is not a collision avoidance or warning device. NSCC is for highway use only and should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic, or on winding or slippery roads. Driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.

[12] Standard on Limited trim. Surround View Monitor (SVM) is a parking support system. SVM cannot eliminate blind spots, may not detect every object and does not warn of moving objects. Always check surroundings before moving vehicle. See Owner's Manual for further details and limitations.

[13] EPA-estimated 261-mile driving range for 2025 KONA Electric Limited and 2025 KONA Electric SEL; EPA-estimated 230-mile driving range for 2025 KONA Electric N Line; and EPA-estimated 200-mile driving range for 2025 KONA Electric SE. All figures are EPA estimates and based on a fully charged battery. For comparison purposes only. Battery capacity decreases with time and use. Actual range will vary based on a number of factors, including vehicle options, driving conditions and habits, vehicle and battery's condition, battery temperature and outside temperature.

[14] Approximately 43 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% on a 400V fast charger. Actual charging time varies based on a number of factors, including current battery charge level, output of the charging unit, vehicle and battery settings, battery temperature and outside temperature.
