Which Volkswagen Jetta GLI trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI offers these trims:

• Jetta GLI: The 2022 model now includes the formerly optional Autobahn Package as standard equipment, bringing perforated leather upholstery, a new steering wheel with gloss black touch-sensing buttons, and the updated exterior styling changes; this is the best-value choice because it packages the core GLI experience with the most equipment.

What Volkswagen Jetta GLI do most buyers choose?

The Volkswagen Jetta GLI years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2020.

Higher-volume years tend to draw more shoppers because they offer a broader mix of availability and pricing. That usually gives you more room to compare condition, mileage, and deal quality before you decide.

What is the Volkswagen Jetta GLI's resale value?

Most of the model years in this table are moving lower year over year, which can create better buying opportunities for used shoppers. One recent year is nearly flat, while an older year is moving up, so the pattern is mixed rather than uniform.

The 2017, 2024, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Volkswagen Jetta GLI now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −8.65% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −0.96%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 43.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 39.7%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $27,794. The Volkswagen Jetta GLI offers a rare mix of sporty driving character and everyday sedan practicality.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The Jetta GLI continues with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine powering the front wheels through a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), and it makes 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm.
• Tech: The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the GLI does include App Connect with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and the GLI features SiriusXM 360L satellite radio, wireless charging, and a nine-speaker Beats Audio premium sound system.
• Safety: Volkswagen improves the new Jetta GLI’s safety technology in 2022, adding the automaker’s IQ Drive collection of driver assistance features, including Travel Assist and Emergency Assist.
• Starting price: Every 2022 Jetta GLI now includes the formerly optional Autobahn Package as standard equipment, so this performance-tuned version of VW’s compact car now sits squarely at the top of the model lineup with a base price of $30,995.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
