Customer summary
Overall, the Toyota Camry has earned a reputation for its reliability, comfort, and fuel efficiency across all model years. Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, spacious interiors, and impressive safety features, making it a solid choice for families and commuters alike. Many appreciate its stylish design and ease of maintenance, contributing to its lasting popularity. | 2014 | $11,933 | $11,385 – $12,031 |
The Toyota Camry's current nationwide average price is $22,863, and its year-round low is $20,715.51. That puts recent-model shopping in a fairly tight band, especially if you're comparing 2023 through 2025 examples. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.
Is the Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — the Toyota Camry is a strong used-car pick if you want a sedan that consistently earns high owner approval for comfort, reliability, and everyday usability. The all-generations owner rating is 4.46/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners repeatedly praise the Camry for its smooth ride, spacious cabin, and fuel efficiency. Reliability and ease of maintenance also come up often, along with a practical, family-friendly character that makes the car easy to live with.
Expert reviews rate the 2015 and 2025 models among the highest across all years.
The main tradeoffs in recent expert-tested years center on styling that can feel plain, cargo space that is limited, and a stereo that is lacking. Those are the kinds of compromises you weigh against the Camry’s core strengths rather than deal-breakers.
26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Toyota Camry models reliable?
Owners consistently describe the Camry as dependable, comfortable, and easy to maintain. Expert reviews reinforce that picture with praise for its practical character, smooth ride, and strong safety reputation.
- Owners rate the Toyota Camry between 4.4 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is generally low, especially if you choose a well-kept example with a clean history and regular maintenance records.
What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Camry?
Across all model years, at 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 90.5% |
| 2025 | 89.2% |
| 2024 | 85.7% |
| 2023 | 79.6% |
| 2022 | 71.8% |
| 2021 | 63% |
| 2020 | 57.4% |
| 2019 | 53.6% |
| 2018 | 50.8% |
| 2017 | 49.3% |
| 2016 | 48.6% |
| 2015 | 48% |
| 2014 | 47.2% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2023 models.
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0)
- Infotainment: an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy ranges from 43 mpg to 51 mpg in combined city and highway driving, depending on the trim level and drivetrain configuration.
Which Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2026 Toyota Camry offers these trims:
- LE: The entry trim starts the lineup with the Camry’s standard hybrid setup and practical everyday focus.
- SE: This trim adds a sportier feel, and it is one of the trims with a sport-tuned suspension.
- Nightshade Edition: This trim adds satin black 19-inch wheels, gloss-black exterior detailing, and a black interior, making it the most style-forward choice.
- XLE: This trim adds a more upscale feel and includes the touch-sensing steering wheel.
- XSE: This trim adds a sportier, more premium character, the touch-sensing steering wheel, and the sport-tuned suspension.
- Nightshade Edition: This is the best-value trim if you want standout styling and a well-equipped feel without moving to the top of the range.
What Toyota Camry do most buyers choose?
The Toyota Camry years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2026.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 9,667 | 29.3% |
| 2024 | 9,619 | 29.5% |
| 2026 | 7,833 | 29.3% |
| 2023 | 5,945 | 27.9% |
| 2022 | 4,312 | 26.7% |
| 2021 | 3,133 | 26.3% |
Those higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you the broadest selection of listings and the strongest mix of price points. They also make it easier to compare trims, mileage, and condition before you buy.
What is the Toyota Camry's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $29,542 | −5.56% |
| 2022 | $23,489 | −2.73% |
| 2021 | $21,786 | −2.31% |
| 2019 | $18,910 | −1.94% |
| 2024 | $26,666 | −1.78% |
| 2020 | $20,508 | −1.59% |
| 2023 | $25,192 | −1.03% |
| 2014 | $11,933 | −0.81% |
| 2018 | $17,811 | −0.68% |
| 2017 | $15,173 | +0.68% |
| 2016 | $13,831 | +2.06% |
| 2015 | $13,122 | +2.74% |
Most Camry model years in this table are down year over year, which is helpful if you're shopping used and want prices that have softened. A few older years are rising, so the market is not moving in one direction across the board. The biggest drops are concentrated in newer models, while several older examples are edging upward.
The 2014, 2017, and 2018 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.
The 2015, 2016, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.

For the safest used buy, the 2018 and 2019 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.
Should I buy a used Toyota Camry now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −5.56% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −1.78%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 29.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 29.5%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $29,542. The Toyota Camry offers a comfortable ride, a roomy cabin, and a practical, easy-to-live-with character.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The Camry ditched its 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V6 engines as part of the 2025-model-year update, leaving a tried-and-true hybrid system as the only powertrain. It combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a pair of electric motors to produce 225 horsepower in front-wheel-drive (FWD) models, while all-wheel drive (AWD) versions add a third electric motor and bump total output to 232 hp.
- Tech: Toyota equips the more affordable Camry models with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and our test car’s Multimedia Upgrade Package included a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen.
- Safety: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) is standard on every 2026 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, road-sign assist, and high-beam assist.
- Starting price: Prices range from $30,595 to $36,995, including the $1,295 destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2027 inventory to mature. Good value for a new car considering used prices are a bit crazy right now. Ride is smooth , absorbs bumps and harsh roads are not a problem for this car. I average about 60 miles to and from work everyday and so far I average 52 mpg, most of it is highway miles too. 10/10 would recommend it to anyone.

Bought a 2025 Toyota Camry hybrid yesterday and it seems like a great car. I really like the idea that I can recharge the electric battery just by breaking and letting off of the accelerator. It has a lot of room and it was comparably priced with the Corolla.

Toyota Camry test drive
overall

Affordable, efficient, and safe, the 2026 Toyota Camry is all about practicality.
Available in five trim levels, each equipped with a standard hybrid powertrain, the Camry is one of the few remaining midsize sedans for sale in the United States. Toyota stopped just short of a complete redesign for the 2025 model year, and the 2026 Camry lineup continues mostly unchanged, adding a sporty new Nightshade Edition trim level and a paint color called Dark Cosmos.
Verdict: The Toyota Camry is cheap to own, safe, and known for its dependability. Is that exciting? No. But fortunately, a 2026 Camry is also comfortable and good to drive.
