Great vehicle. It’s so much improved from the 2019 Version. The best technology - which takes a bit to get used to. There are no physical turns signals or levers. It’s a steering wheel with buttons and a large screen that controls all functions in the vehicle. The ride is very smooth and it goes without saying…it’s fast.

The Tesla Model X was futuristic when it first landed, bringing gullwing doors and other features never before seen in a family SUV. It’s still quite ahead of the curve today, though many automakers have caught up on tech, and the design isn’t as outrageous as it was to start.
What’s New for the 2023 Tesla Model X
Tesla made no significant changes to the Model X for 2023, but buyers have several configuration choices and options.
Design
Today’s Model X looks a lot like the original Model X, which is because the SUV hasn’t had a full overhaul since its inception. The fastback shape remains, with a low front end and an elevated rear that give the SUV an aggressive stance. The rear gullwing doors are a unique touch, making the Model X a standout SUV in its class from a styling perspective.
Powertrain
Tesla offers two main configurations for the Model X in 2023. The entry-level setup features two motors and a combined 670 horsepower. This configuration returns up to 348 miles of range per charge. The upgraded Plaid model offers a tremendous 1,020 horsepower and mind-altering acceleration.
Tesla’s Supercharger network is a significant upgrade from any other charger in the US, offering better speeds and more reliable charging in almost all situations. That said, the company has partnered with outside automakers to open the network to other brands, so the move could extend wait times and make it harder to find an open charger.
Interior
The Model X’s interior is simple but super upscale, and the SUV offers seating for up to seven, depending on the interior setup. Heated and ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats come standard, along with a heated steering wheel. There’s good space across the first two rows, but adults may not be as comfortable in the third-row seat.
Technology
Tesla bypasses Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in favor of its own interface, but its system becomes easier to use with practice. The 17-inch touchscreen handles nearly every vehicle control and system, and the display brings several great features, including Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, wireless charging, HD radio, and more.
Safety
The Model X hasn’t been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) yet, but it comes packed with advanced driver aids and tech, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-departure alerts, lane-keep assist, and much more. Buyers can also add one of Tesla’s advanced driving systems that bring temporary hands-free driving for a steep price.
Pricing
The Tesla Model X starts at $98,490 and climbs to $108,490 with the performance Plaid model. The price tag can grow even larger with options, of which there are a few. The Autopilot and “full self-driving” features can add as much at $15,000 to the bottom line.
