What should I look for when buying a used Subaru WRX?

Across all model years, at 71.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Subaru's EyeSight safety system
• Infotainment: Subaru Starlink infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, plus either a pair of 7-inch touchscreens or an 11.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen
• Fuel efficiency: The WRX's EPA fuel economy ratings of 22 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway) with the manual transmission and 21 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway) with the CVT are respectable for a performance car.

Which Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Subaru WRX offers these trims:

• WRX: The entry trim keeps the core WRX formula intact with the turbocharged engine, standard all-wheel drive, and manual transmission, making it the straightforward choice if you want the model's enthusiast character at the lowest price.
• Premium: This trim adds more everyday comfort and convenience, and it stands out as the best-value pick for many shoppers because it broadens the WRX's appeal without moving too far up the price ladder.
• Limited: This trim adds a more upscale feel and more advanced equipment, making it a strong fit if you want a richer cabin and more features.
• GT: This trim brings the most performance-focused hardware and the most advanced equipment in the lineup, including electronically controlled dampers and a more adjustable drive-mode setup.

What Subaru WRX do most buyers choose?

The Subaru WRX years with the most listings are 2023, 2022, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right price, mileage, and condition. They also sit close enough to the current generation to deliver the WRX's core performance character while still offering used-car value.

What is the Subaru WRX's resale value?

The table shows broad downward movement across the WRX lineup, which can work in your favor if you're shopping used. Most model years are posting negative year-over-year changes, so buyers are seeing lower asking prices than they were a year ago. The smallest declines are clustered among the years that have held value best, while the larger drops create more room for value-focused shoppers.

The 2018, 2015, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

• Tech: The WRX's Subaru Starlink infotainment system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and two display configurations, including an 11.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen on WRX Premium and higher trim levels.
