Though it’s the automaker’s entry-level car, the Rolls-Royce Ghost is still an extremely high-end car with everything the brand has to offer. It gets many of the features and styling elements of Rolls’ much more expensive Phantom, but the Ghost slides in with a slightly more affordable price tag.
What’s New for the 2023 Rolls-Royce Ghost
The Ghost got no significant updates for the 2023 model year, but buyers typically heavily customize the car, making each one unique.
Design
Rolls gives the Ghost reverse-opening “coach” rear doors and its easily-recognizable front-end design. That means a large, upright grille, boxy headlights, and the brand’s signature Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament. Buyers have a range of wheel designs to choose from, and Rolls will paint the car in nearly any color under the sun. The Ghost’s overall look isn’t very different from the Phantom’s, but the stately features of the more expensive car are slightly condensed in the smaller entry-level sedan.
Powertrain
The Ghost gets Rolls’ signature 6.75-liter V12 engine that produces 563 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, and the Black Badge delivers a staggering 592 horsepower. The run from zero-60 mph takes around four and a half seconds, but there’s no denying that Rolls tuned the car for ultimate comfort over all-out performance. All-wheel steering is standard, along with adaptive suspension that uses a camera to scan the road for imperfections and adjust the damping.
Interior
The Ghost may be Rolls’ entry-level car, but its interior is nothing short of breathtaking. It offers the most premium leathers and carpeting available, and buyers can opt for a range of interior materials and colors that make each car unique. Rolls-Royce offers its starlight LED headliner that uses tiny lights to simulate the starry night sky. The back seat has massaging and an entertainment system to keep everyone happy on long rides, and both rows of seats offer fantastic head- and legroom. Rolls’ catalog also has several accents available, including metals, carbon fiber, real wood, and more.
Technology
Rolls-Royce equips the Ghost with a widescreen touchscreen and a digital gauge cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the rear entertainment system has two large screens with inputs for video and other functionality. The car comes with an 18-speaker Rolls-Royce bespoke stereo, and other standard features include Bluetooth, SiriusXM, navigation, and more.
Safety
Crash-testing $300,000-plus cars gets expensive quickly, so Rolls-Royce’s cars don’t often see the business end of industry testing. The automaker still gives the car an impressive array of standard features, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane-departure alerts, lane-keep assist, and more.
Pricing
Pricing for the 2023 Rolls-Royce Ghost starts at $351,000 and extends past $400,000 for the Black Badge model. Buyers often add options and customizations that push the price tag much higher, however, and the automaker says that very few cars are sold at the base price.
