New Mercedes-Benz S-Class for Sale near 21703

How much does the Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost in today's market?

Used Mercedes-Benz S-Class prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class's current nationwide average price is $51,150, and its nationwide average price reached a low of $48,104 over the past year. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a strong choice if you want a flagship luxury sedan with broad appeal and a long track record of owner satisfaction. The all-generations owner rating is 4.7/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the S-Class for its luxurious feel, comfortable and spacious interiors, smooth ride, powerful engines, and advanced technology. The model also earns recurring praise for craftsmanship, safety innovations, and the overall sense of refinement that comes through across generations.

Expert reviews rate the 2022 and 2023 models among the highest across all years.

The main tradeoffs that show up repeatedly are high ownership costs, expensive pricing, and technology that can be frustrating to use in some years. For used shoppers, that means the S-Class rewards you with exceptional comfort and prestige, but you should budget carefully and choose a well-kept example.

32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Mercedes-Benz S-Class models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently describe the S-Class as a luxurious, comfortable, and highly advanced flagship with strong performance and a polished driving experience. Across the model years in the data, the most common praise centers on its premium feel, smooth ride, and impressive technology.

• Owners rate the Mercedes-Benz S-Class between 3.9 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is tied mainly to the S-Class’s complexity and the potential for higher upkeep costs, so a thorough pre-purchase inspection and service-history review are especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Across all model years, at 74.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2021 models.

Key things to evaluate:

Which Mercedes-Benz S-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class offers these trims:

• S 500: The entry point brings a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 442 horsepower, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and standard 4Matic all-wheel drive; it suits you if you want the core S-Class experience with the lowest starting price.
• S 580e: This plug-in hybrid adds an electric motor and a 22.7-kWh battery pack for 503 hp and an estimated 48 miles of electric range, making it the best-value trim for shoppers who want strong efficiency and quick acceleration.
• S 580: The V8-powered model adds 496 hp and 516 lb-ft, giving you more muscle while keeping the S-Class’s luxury-first character.
• AMG S 63 E Performance: The performance flagship combines a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with an electric motor for 791 hp and 1,055 lb-ft, plus an estimated 16 miles of electric-only propulsion for buyers who want the most powerful version.

What Mercedes-Benz S-Class do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class years with the most listings are 2023, 2022, and 2024.

Those higher-volume years tend to attract the widest range of shoppers because they combine strong availability with newer features and broad appeal. They also give you more chances to compare prices and find a well-equipped example that fits your budget.

What is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. The newer models are also showing declines, though the size of the drop varies by year. The smallest changes are concentrated among the years that have held up best in price.

The 2017, 2024, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
