What should I look for when buying a used Land Rover Discovery?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 87.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, and a 360-degree camera system.
• Infotainment: Jaguar Land Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment system with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.4-inch touchscreen, plus Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and simultaneous Bluetooth pairing.
• Fuel efficiency: 21 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 22 mpg highway) for the turbo-four engine, and 21 mpg combined (18 mpg city, 24 mpg highway) for the six-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain.

Which Land Rover Discovery trim should I buy?

The 2021 Land Rover Discovery offers these trims:

• Discovery S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Discovery formula with standard 4WD, leather seats, and the full 12.3-inch instrument cluster/11.4-inch touchscreen setup. It’s the best-value choice if you want the Discovery’s main strengths without moving up the trim ladder.
• Discovery R-Dynamic S: This trim adds the R-Dynamic treatment, including a gloss black grille and other exterior trim, plus two-tone leather upholstery with contrast stitching.
• Discovery R-Dynamic HSE: This is the most upscale 2021 trim, and it builds on the R-Dynamic look with the most premium presentation in the lineup.

What Land Rover Discovery do most buyers choose?

The Land Rover Discovery years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2026.

Higher-volume years tend to be the easiest place to shop because you get more inventory to compare, which can make it simpler to find the right color, mileage, and equipment mix. They also often give you a better chance of finding a deal that fits your budget.

What is the Land Rover Discovery's resale value?

The table shows broad downward movement across the lineup, which is good news if you’re shopping used. Several years have seen steep double-digit drops, so you may find stronger value in recent model years than you would expect from a premium SUV. The smaller changes at the lower end of the table suggest some years have softened less than others.

The 2018, 2022, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Land Rover Discovery safe?

• 2021: 6/10
• 2017: 8/10

For the safest used buy, the 2017 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.
