What should I look for when buying a used Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In?

| Model Year | Accident-Free % |

| 2023 | 96% |
| 2022 | 96% |
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Hyundai’s advanced driver assistance systems include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, and junction-turning detection, plus blind-spot warning and collision avoidance, driver attention warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning.
- Infotainment: The standard 10.25-inch touchscreen display includes wired Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: 33 miles of EV range and 35 miles per gallon, per the EPA.
Which Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In trim should I buy?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In offers these trims:
- SEL: This is the best-value trim if you want the Tucson PHEV’s core plug-in hybrid setup at the lowest starting price, and it still includes heated front seats and the standard safety suite.
- Limited: This trim adds leather-trimmed upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated rear seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and Highway Driving Assist, making it the better pick if you want the most complete feature set.
What Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In do most buyers choose?
The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 130 | 25.4% |
| 2023 | 124 | 29.8% |
| 2025 | 96 | 21.9% |
| 2022 | 50 | 32% |
| 2026 | 22 | 0% |
Higher-listing years usually draw more shoppers because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right price, color, and condition. In this case, the most common years also give you a broader set of deal opportunities.
What is the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | $31,106 | −4.22% |
Used values are moving lower for the model year shown here, which can work in your favor if you're shopping for a recent Tucson Hybrid Plug-In. The change is modest enough to suggest a relatively steady pricing pattern rather than a sharp swing. The 2024 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In safe?
- 2022: 8/10
Hyundai’s advanced driver assistance systems are standard equipment, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning.
For the safest used buy, the 2022 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.
Should I buy a used Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2024 model is at −4.22% versus a year ago.
- Deal availability: The 2024 model has 25.4% good and great deals.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $31,106. The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Plug-In offers a comfortable cabin that feels open and airy, which helps it stand out as a practical daily driver.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: 33 miles of EV range and 35 miles per gallon, per the EPA.
- Tech: The standard 10.25-inch touchscreen display fitted to our Tucson PHEV Limited tester. Although it doesn’t support wireless Apple CarPlay or wireless Android Auto (something the 8-inch display in the SEL trim level does), the wired version of both is included.
- Safety: Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist, a semi-hands-free driving assistance system, is standard on the Limited trim but not available on the SEL.
- Starting price: With a starting price of $36,695 including a $1,295 destination fee, the Tucson PHEV SEL looks like a good value.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2027 inventory to mature.

We traded our 2021 Honda Accord Touring for this beautiful 2025 Hyundai Tucson PHEV. We have driven several miles now and find the comfort, ride and performance even better than the Honda! That's saying a lot, because we enjoyed our Honda. The styling, fit and finishes are excellent! The technolgy is industry leading. Our Tucson is very quiet and the shifting from electric to gas operation is seamless. We considered a CRV and a Rav 4. A big negative is their CVT's. The Tucson has a real 6 speed transmission and true AWD Our Tucson is superior in being quieter, smoother and more powerful, too. The technology leads the industry. We have enjoyed 4 Hondas in the past. We have moved on. Hyundai has now earned two new and impressed customers!

Comfortable easy driving and quiet. Plenty of room for four adults and their gear. We were looking for a baby step toward an EV and this plug-in hybrid was more fun and more pleasant than the over-priced RAV 4 Primes we kept finding. Time will tell if it is reliable, but Hyundai has a decent track record for reliability on this model
