Customer summary
The Hyundai Kona has won over many drivers with its fun driving experience, stylish design, and solid safety features across various model years. Owners appreciate its smooth handling, impressive technology, and good fuel economy. However, some express dissatisfaction with the limited cargo space and the quality of interior materials. Overall, the Kona is seen as a great value in the subcompact SUV market, though some wish for more available features and refinement in certain areas.

Reviewed a 2025 Hyundai SEL Convenience FWD on Feb 28, 2025
The 2025 Hyundai Kona SEL Convenience is a great subcompact SUV with a modern design, solid tech features, and a comfortable ride. The wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, heated front seats, and digital gauge cluster make it feel upscale for its price. It has decent cargo space and improved rear legroom, making it more practical than before. The 2.0L engine is fine for daily driving but lacks power for quicker acceleration. Some interior materials could be better, and there’s no power-adjustable passenger seat, which is a minor downside. Compared to rivals like the Honda HR-V or Mazda CX-30, it holds its own with value and features but could use a bit more refinement.

I love the car’s features. It is definitely good value. The only thing that’s missing is heated seats and steering wheel but it has cloth seats so not too bad.

Hyundai Kona test drive
overall
The styling is the only controversial thing about the 2026 Hyundai Kona.
Among small crossovers, the 2026 Kona is one of the biggest in size, passenger room, and cargo volume. Turbocharging and all-wheel drive (AWD) are available, and for this class, the technology is impressive. This year, Hyundai simplified the lineup, shrinking it down to four trim levels with mostly cosmetic differences. More safety features are standard this year, too.
Verdict: With the 2026 Kona, Hyundai offers a terrific small SUV. Putting the polarizing design and the unimpressive base powertrain aside, there are few reasons to skip it and a long list of reasons to choose it.
