Is the Honda Accord a good car?

Yes — the Honda Accord is a strong used-car choice if you want a roomy, comfortable sedan with a long-running reputation for reliability and easy daily livability. The all-generations owner rating is 4.4/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners repeatedly praise the Accord for its spacious cabin, smooth ride, and fuel efficiency, and the newer expert reviews reinforce its polished driving feel and strong safety reputation. Higher trims also add a more upscale cabin experience, which helps the Accord feel a step above many mainstream sedans.

Expert reviews rate the 2021 and 2014 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs in recent expert reviews center on all-wheel drive not being available, technology that can feel less impressive than the rest of the car, and front seats that some shoppers may find less satisfying than the Accord’s otherwise strong package.

  • Owners rate the Honda Accord between 3.5 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership picture looks encouraging overall, especially if you focus on well-kept examples with clean histories and solid maintenance records.

What should I look for when buying a used Honda Accord?

Across all model years, at 61.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Model YearAccident-Free %
202689%
202586.4%
202484.3%
202379.7%
202270.1%
202161.2%
202054.9%
201951.5%
201848.3%
201746.5%
201643.2%
201545.8%
201447.6%

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2023 models.

Key things to evaluate:

  • Safety package: Honda Sensing, with high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist.
  • Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • Fuel efficiency: The turbo 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine supplies 192 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a satisfying swell of 192 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm. In Normal mode the Accord SE test car averaged 29.3 mpg on our fuel economy evaluation loop with a 50:50 mix of city and highway driving, and during a week driving the Accord all over Southern California, we saw 31.3 mpg over 540 miles of travel.

Which Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Accord offers these trims:

  • LX: The entry trim gives you the Accord’s roomy cabin and core everyday usability, and it suits shoppers who want the most affordable path into the model.
  • SE: This is the best-value trim because it adds blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, along with the more appealing 19-inch wheels and a stronger sense of polish.

What Honda Accord do most buyers choose?

The Honda Accord years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

Model YearTotal ListingsGood + Great Deals %
20244,68339.6%
20234,45438.5%
20254,13439.1%
20183,71432.6%
20193,68532.9%
20173,37132.2%

These high-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with newer features and strong value. More listings also give you more room to compare prices, trims, and condition before you buy.

What is the Honda Accord's resale value?

Model YearCurrent Avg. PriceYear-Over-Year Change
2020$19,580−7.13%
2021$21,398−6.09%
2019$18,344−5.97%
2022$23,720−4.45%
2014$11,614−3.47%
2025$26,394−3.14%
2024$24,801−3.08%
2018$17,793−3.08%
2023$23,727−2.91%
2017$15,217−2.63%
2016$14,379−0.91%
2015$13,246+1.25%

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it points to softer pricing across much of the lineup. A few older years are closer to flat, and one year is slightly up, so the pattern is not perfectly uniform. Overall, the table shows a broadly favorable buying environment for used shoppers.

The 2016 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2015, 2016, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Honda Accord safe?

  • 2018: 8/10
  • 2016: 5/10
  • 2015: 7/10
  • 2014: 9/10

The 2026 Accord includes Honda Sensing, with high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist.

For the safest used buy, the 2014, 2021 and 2023 models all post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Honda Accord now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

  • Price trend: The 2025 model is at −3.14% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −3.08%.
  • Deal availability: The 2025 model has 39.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 39.6%.
  • Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $24,801. The Honda Accord offers a roomy cabin and a comfortable, polished driving experience that make it easy to live with every day.

Consider waiting if:

  • Powertrain/efficiency: The turbo 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine supplies 192 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a satisfying swell of 192 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm.
  • Tech: The 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charger is newly standard for 2026.
  • Safety: The latest model adds blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert on the SE trim.
  • Starting price: The Accord starts at $29,690.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
