The Ford Transit is the best-selling commercial van, and it comes in several configurations. Buyers can opt for fixed side windows or sliding glass, and the van is available with different door and seating configurations. The Transit Passenger comes with rear climate vents and controls to accommodate additional people, and Ford offers upgraded audio systems with rear speakers. Several upfits are available for the Passenger body style, including four different seating configurations with various luggage racks and storage solutions. Buyers can opt for an interior luggage wall, exterior running boards, exterior graphics packages, and lighted signs for taxis or other transport service providers. Beyond factory-installed upfits, there’s a whole industry of van custom shops and parts manufacturers, making the Transit one of the most flexible vehicles on the road. The Transit comes standard with a 4-inch display, Bluetooth, and USB inputs. Ford offers upgrades, including a 12-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and more. Some of the audio upgrades include additional safety equipment, such as adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and intelligent speed assist. Buyers can also add upgraded fuses and electrical panels, an upfitter interface with switches for power equipment, a rear compartment lighting system, dual alternators, a backup alarm system, and an intelligent access system with push-button start. Ford equips a decent list of standard safety gear, including a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, automatic high beams, and lane-keeping assist. Available safety kit includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, and a front/rear split-view camera system.
