Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 with high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert, forward automatic emergency braking with intersection assist and pedestrian detection, evasive steering assist, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, rear parking sensors, and rear emergency braking.
- Infotainment: A 12-inch touchscreen with Sync 4 software and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid’s city fuel economy is impressive at 23 mpg, but the V6 and V8 models come close on the highway (our Lobo is rated at 17 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined).
Which Ford F-150 trim should I buy?
The 2026 Ford F-150 offers...
- XL: The starting point for the lineup, with the 2.7-liter turbo V6 standard on STX and XLT trims and the 5.0-liter V8 available on the XL long bed; it suits you if you want a straightforward work truck with the core F-150 formula.
- STX: A strong value choice with the 2.7-liter turbo V6, and the Lobo version adds a body kit, black 22-inch wheels, a two-inch rear suspension drop, and black exhaust tips for a more distinctive street-truck look.
- XLT: A smart step up if you want the 2.7-liter turbo V6 and access to BlueCruise, plus the broader mix of comfort and tech features available in the lineup.
- Lariat: A well-equipped middle ground that can bring the 5.0-liter V8 or the available 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, along with more upscale equipment.
- Tremor: The best fit if you want off-road hardware, with 4WD with low range standard, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 standard, and the 5.0-liter V8 available.
- King Ranch: A premium choice with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 standard, wraparound LED headlights, tan leather, and a power tailgate standard.
- Platinum: Another upscale pick with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 standard, wraparound LED headlights, and a dark tan interior.
- Raptor: The performance off-road model with 4WD with low range standard, a 450-hp twin-turbo V6, lifted and widened suspension, and racing suspension tuning.
- Raptor R: The top performance choice, with a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 rated at 720 hp and 640 lb-ft, plus the same lifted, widened, and reinforced hardware.
What Ford F-150 do most buyers choose?
The Ford F-150 years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 9,817 | 34.5% |
| 2025 | 9,691 | 34.1% |
| 2022 | 9,670 | 33.4% |
| 2023 | 9,648 | 34.1% |
| 2021 | 9,591 | 32% |
| 2020 | 9,591 | 31.6% |
Those high-volume years tend to draw the widest shopper interest because they combine broad availability with newer features and a wide spread of prices. That gives you more room to compare trims, equipment, and deal quality before you buy.
What is the Ford F-150's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $52,963 | −13.85% |
| 2024 | $47,429 | −9.51% |
| 2015 | $17,924 | −7.64% |
| 2016 | $19,027 | −6.43% |
| 2019 | $26,622 | −6.0% |
| 2021 | $33,465 | −5.78% |
| 2020 | $29,024 | −5.67% |
| 2022 | $38,382 | −5.3% |
| 2014 | $15,270 | −4.98% |
| 2017 | $21,913 | −4.18% |
| 2018 | $24,415 | −3.18% |
| 2023 | $43,018 | −1.99% |
Most model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you're shopping used and want prices that have softened. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newest model years, while several older years show smaller declines. That means you can still find value across the lineup, with especially sharp movement in recent inventory.
The 2023, 2018, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

The truck is great, has all the features that you would have to get a higher trim in earlier models. The V8 has plenty of power and tows well. Would recommend this truck to anyone looking for a truck.

My 2024 Lariat has some great features, and I am still learning about them all. I could be wrong but the seats are not leather but vinyl that looks like leather. I dont mind it at all. I guess I would compare it to GMCs Delali.

Ford F-150 test drive
overall

Modest changes power the F-150 through its 49th year of being the bestselling truck in the United States.
In its 14th generation and two years after a modest refresh, the 2026 Ford F-150 reshuffles standard and optional equipment across its eight trims, three beds, three cabs, and six powertrains. The electric F-150 Lightning ended production after the 2025 model year, leaving with it the potential for a plug-in hybrid in a future generation. For this test, we grabbed a low-level trim—the STX Lobo—to see how the F-150 fares with a traditional V8 and fewer features.
Verdict: The F-150 is the full-size truck with the most versatility and configurations on the market today.
