The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is a spacious and functional three-row, midsize SUV. It blends the line between three-row family haulers and more robust, capable sport utility vehicles.

What’s New for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse

The Traverse has been completely redesigned for the 2024 model year. It has more muscular, off-road-inspired styling. It also gains new technology and a new powertrain.

Design

Trims for the 2024 Traverse are LS, LT, Z71, and RS. The LS and LT have similar looks, with the latter including roof rails, a chrome grille, and chrome exterior details. The Z71 trim adds skid plates, red tow hooks, and unique 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. The RS trim features gloss black roof rails and 22-inch gloss-black alloy wheels.

Powertrain

The standard engine across the board in the 2024 Traverse is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. It makes 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels or available all-wheel drive (AWD). When properly equipped, the Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The Z71 also ups the ante with off-road suspension, Terrain-Mode drive-mode selection, and hill-descent control, which is like cruise control for the trail. Fuel-economy estimates have not yet been stated for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse.

Interior

The Traverse has seating for up to eight passengers across all three rows; the available second-row captain's chairs bring seating capacity from eight to seven. With the second and third rows folded, the Traverse provides up to 98 cubic feet of cargo space. All but the base LS trim come equipped with a hands-free power liftgate.

Available features on the Traverse include a power driver’s seat, heated front- and second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel. The LT and Z71 trims come equipped with synthetic leather upholstery. Stepping up to the range-topping RS adds genuine leather upholstery.

Technology

The 2024 Chevy Traverse comes standard with a fully digital instrument panel and a large 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This touchscreen has a user-friendly layout, and it includes standard wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The Traverse also comes with six USB ports and is available with wireless device charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Safety

Standard driver-assistance tech on the new Traverse includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision alert, bicycle-collision mitigation, lane-change alert with side blind-zone alert, lateral impact avoidance, and side collision assist. There are a number of additional safety features that are either available with options packages or standard on higher trims. These include adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, and reverse automatic emergency braking. All but the base LS trim are available with GM’s Super Cruise partially autonomous highway driving system.

Pricing

Official pricing information for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is not yet available as of this writing. Production will commence in early 2024 at GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan. The Chevrolet Traverse is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
