The Trailblazer is an efficient subcompact crossover and one of Chevy’s most affordable models for 2024. Rivals include the Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Kona, and its corporate cousin, the Buick Encore GX.

What’s New for the 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer

The current iteration of the Chevrolet Trailblazer is a subcompact crossover with seating for five. It was introduced for the 2021 model year alongside the Buick Encore GX, with which it shares engineering and powertrains. This year, the Trailblazer gets exterior refreshes and a new standard touchscreen display that’s larger than both of last year’s options. The trim lineup carries over unchanged, consisting of LS, LT, Activ, and RS models.

Design

The Trailblazer occupies a lot of visual space for a subcompact SUV, with a boldness that’s not found on most competitors. For 2024, Chevy updates the Trailblazer’s exterior with a refreshed front fascia that includes redesigned lighting and different grilles to distinguish the trim levels. New wheel designs are available across the lineup, including 19-inchers for the RS model. Finally, Copper Harbor Metallic and Cacti Green join the color palette.

Powertrain

The Trailblazer comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), and 1.3-liter models are available with all-wheel drive (AWD), but it’s a selectable system rather than a full-time system, meaning you must press a button to engage it. FWD models get a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while AWD models have a nine-speed automatic transmission. Selectable Normal, Sport, and Snow drive modes come standard.

Interior

The Trailblazer seats five across two rows, and it’s surprisingly spacious inside, both in terms of passenger accommodations and cargo room. The Trailblazer’s cargo area measures 25.3 cubic feet and opens up to 54.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Cloth upholstery comes standard, and options include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Technology

For 2024, the Trailblazer gets a standard 11-inch center touchscreen display and an 8-inch digital instrument display. Other standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The infotainment system is easy to use, and the new upgraded screens make the Trailblazer more appealing for tech enthusiasts. Options include a Bose audio system, wireless device charging, and USB ports in the back row.

Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2024 Trailblazer a five-star overall safety rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hasn’t yet published ratings for the 2024 Trailblazer, but the organization gave the 2023 model top “Good” scores in all six crash tests. Standard safety features include a reversing camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and GM’s Teen Driver system. Optional safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Pricing

The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer is on sale now. As of this writing, Chevy lists pricing for the Trailblazer starting at an MSRP of $24,395 for the base LS trim with FWD. The LT starts at $25,595, and the Activ and RS models represent the two top-tier trims, both starting at $28,395. AWD is offered across the lineup and adds about $2,000 depending on trim.
