The Chevrolet Express's current nationwide average price is $28,142, and its lowest point over the past year was $26,299.
Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.
Is the Chevrolet Express a good car?
Yes — the Chevrolet Express earns strong marks from owners overall, and the highest-rated model years in the data reinforce that appeal.
The all-generations owner rating is 4.1/5 across every model year in the data.
32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Chevrolet Express models reliable?
Owners consistently give the Chevrolet Express solid ratings, with several model years landing at 4 stars or better and the strongest scores reaching 5 stars. That pattern points to a van that many shoppers feel good about for everyday use and long-term ownership.
- Owners rate the Chevrolet Express between 3.5 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, the long-term ownership picture looks encouraging, especially if you focus on well-kept examples with clean history reports and strong maintenance records.
What should I look for when buying a used Chevrolet Express?
Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 80% — always verify the vehicle history report.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 92.5% |
| 2025 | 92.3% |
| 2024 | 91.6% |
| 2023 | 87.3% |
| 2022 | 83.4% |
| 2021 | 76.5% |
| 2020 | 76.5% |
| 2019 | 75.7% |
| 2018 | 74.5% |
| 2017 | 75.5% |
| 2016 | 73.9% |
| 2015 | 75.2% |
| 2014 | 71.7% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2015 models.
What Chevrolet Express do most buyers choose?
The Chevrolet Express years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2026.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 574 | 36.4% |
| 2025 | 496 | 36.5% |
| 2026 | 386 | 37.3% |
| 2018 | 385 | 33% |
| 2017 | 327 | 33.6% |
| 2016 | 322 | 33.2% |
These higher-volume years tend to draw the most attention because they give you more choices at once, which can make it easier to compare prices, mileage, and condition. They also show strong deal percentages, which helps explain why shoppers keep gravitating toward them.
What is the Chevrolet Express's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | $37,286 | −20.11% |
| 2025 | $41,091 | −17.82% |
| 2023 | $29,821 | −16.45% |
| 2014 | $17,704 | −15.55% |
| 2016 | $19,853 | −12.17% |
| 2017 | $20,622 | −10.88% |
| 2020 | $21,946 | −10.61% |
| 2019 | $22,005 | −8.34% |
| 2018 | $22,042 | −3.7% |
Most model years in the table are down year over year, and several recent ones show especially sharp drops. That creates a favorable setup for used buyers who want more room to negotiate on newer inventory. The smallest changes appear in the older middle years, which suggests those versions have moved less over the past year.
The 2018, 2019, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used Chevrolet Express now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −17.82% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −20.11%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 36.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 36.4%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $37,286.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

The only thing that the Van was missing was a cup holder in the first bench seat. It is the 3500 Chevy express Van, and I absolutely love it.

Overview
The Chevrolet Express is a relic of a full-size passenger van designed for easy customization for commercial fleets. Rivals include the related GMC Savana as well as the Ram ProMaster and Ford Transit.
What’s New for the 2023 Chevrolet Express
The Chevrolet Express shares its bones with the GMC Savana van. The Express seats 12 passengers in its standard configuration, though the available Extended Wheelbase model increases capacity to 15. The Express hasn’t changed much since the early 1990s, and it falls short of rivals in terms of efficiency as well as safety and infotainment technology offerings.
Design
The Express is available in 2500 and 3500 versions, which affect towing and payload capacity. The 2500 model is available only in Regular Wheelbase configuration, while the 3500 is available in both Regular and Extended Wheelbase options. You’ll need the 3500 Extended Wheelbase model to upgrade from 12-passenger to 15-passenger seating capacity. The design is deliberately simple, though dated, and it looks every bit its age. That said, the Express is designed to be upgraded or "upfitted" for purposes like airport shuttles or wheelchair-accessible transport.
Powertrain
The 2023 Express comes standard with a 4.3-liter V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (RWD). This powertrain is rated for 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque. If you need more power, the Express is available with a 6.6-liter V8 that produces 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque, paired with a heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission. Unlike many rivals, the Chevy Express lineup is not available with an all-wheel drive (AWD) option.
Interior
The base Express in LS trim includes seating for 12 passengers, cloth front bucket seats with manual adjustments, air conditioning, 12- and 120-volt power outlets, auxiliary lighting, a carpeted floor, a center console storage bin, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote start, and power locks and windows. Options include seating for 15 passengers (in the 3500 Extended Wheelbase model), vinyl upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and keyless entry.
Technology
The base Chevy Express includes an eight-point digital compass, an AM/FM stereo with an MP3 player, interior lighting, OnStar, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. Available upgrades include a USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Many rivals, most notably the Ford Transit vans, offer more comfort and infotainment features, like touchscreens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility.
Safety
Large passenger vans and similar commercial vehicles aren’t typically crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the Chevy Express is no exception. The Express comes standard with a reversing camera, lane-departure warning, hill-start assist, and GM’s OnStar telematics system. Blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning are available.
Pricing
The 2023 Chevrolet Express passenger van is on sale now. As of this writing, Chevy lists pricing for the base 2500 Regular Wheelbase model as $44,095 MSRP. For the 3500 Regular Wheelbase model, the MSRP starts at $45,295. The 3500 Extended Wheelbase van configuration has a base MSRP of $46,095.
