The BMW X3 M40i AWD is a mid-tier trim level of the X3 luxury crossover, introduced for the 2018 model year upon the X3’s redesign and continuing through 2023. The M40i trim is available only with all-wheel drive, flaunting BMW’s convention of using the term “xDrive” to designate AWD models. Though the M40i trim level started its run with a turbocharged inline-6 engine, from the 2023 model year on, it’s powered by a mild-hybrid turbocharged inline-6.
