New BMW 4 Series for Sale nearRedford, MI

How much does the BMW 4 Series cost in today's market?

Used BMW 4 Series prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The BMW 4 Series has a current nationwide average price of $30,855, and its lowest point over the past year was $30,040. Recently, prices have come down for the 2024, 2025, and 2026 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — the BMW 4 Series is a strong used-car pick if you want a stylish luxury coupe, convertible, or Gran Coupe with engaging driving manners and a premium feel. The all-generations owner rating is 4.6/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the 4 Series for its performance, handling, comfort, and upscale design. Across the model line, drivers also highlight the car’s strong power delivery, enjoyable driving character, and well-appointed cabin.

Expert reviews rate the 2015 and 2014 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs in recent expert-tested years center on polarizing styling, a cramped back seat, and value that can feel stretched at higher prices. Even so, the 4 Series remains appealing if you want a luxury BMW with a sporty personality and a broad equipment list.

36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are BMW 4 Series models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently praise the BMW 4 Series for its performance, handling, comfort, and upscale feel. Across the lineup, it also earns strong marks for being enjoyable to drive and well equipped.

• Owners rate the BMW 4 Series between 4.08 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking service history carefully, since premium repairs can become expensive if prior maintenance has been inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used BMW 4 Series?

Across all model years, at 72.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2021 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant
• Infotainment: iDrive 7 with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display
• Fuel efficiency: 25.3 mpg on our evaluation loop, considerably less than the official EPA fuel economy estimate of 28 mpg in combined driving

Which BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series offers these trims:

• 430i: The 430i is the value-focused choice, and it can be equipped with Sport or M Sport styling. It suits you if you want the core 4 Series driving experience with the broadest appeal.
• M440i: The M440i adds M Performance design, Shadowline trim treatment, M Sport suspension and brakes, run-flat tires, an M steering wheel, bespoke alloy wheels, and keyless entry. It suits you if you want the most performance-oriented setup in this year’s lineup.

What BMW 4 Series do most buyers choose?

The BMW 4 Series years with the most listings are 2025, 2023, and 2024.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choices in color, mileage, and equipment, which makes it easier to find the right match. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so pricing and deal availability are often especially competitive.

What is the BMW 4 Series's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room for value. The steepest declines are concentrated in several newer and mid-cycle years, while a few older years are falling more slowly. That makes the lineup broadly favorable for buyers looking for a lower entry price than before.

The 2015, 2018, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the BMW 4 Series safe?

• 2022: 8/10
• 2021: 6/10
• 2015: 7/10
• 2014: 7/10

Active Driving Assistant is standard on every 4 Series Gran Coupe.

For the safest used buy, the 2022 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.

Should I buy a used BMW 4 Series now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2026 model is at −8.08% versus a year ago, and the 2025 model is at −6.16%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 37.8% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $47,245. The BMW 4 Series offers a stylish, upscale driving experience with a strong blend of comfort and sporty character.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 4 Series Gran Coupe and the Kia Stinger each weigh more than 4,000 pounds in top specification, but the BMW doesn't feel like it. Instead, it has a lighter and more lively feel from behind the wheel, thanks to old-fashioned BMW goodness baked right in.
• Tech: The iDrive 7 system also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and a cloud-based navigation system kept current by over-the-air updates.
• Safety: The Driving Assistance Professional Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, an Active Driving Assistant that combines the adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance and lane-change assistance technologies, and an emergency stop assistance system that can bring the car to a safe stop if the driver becomes unresponsive.
• Starting price: While BMW does include its Ultimate Care program for all new 4 Series Gran Coupes, the complimentary maintenance plan, which covers all scheduled services during the first three years or 36,000 miles of driving, doesn't do much to offset the car's high price tag.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
