What should I look for when buying a used Audi A3?

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Audi Pre Sense Front, rear cross-traffic alert, a vehicle exit warning system, and Audi Side Assist blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The A3 is EPA-rated at 28 mpg combined, and our result was 28.4 mpg on our Southern California evaluation loop.

Which Audi A3 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Audi A3 offers these trims:

• Premium: This trim gives you the A3’s core luxury-car experience with the standard turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Quattro all-wheel drive.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim if you want the most meaningful upgrades, adding the Sonos premium sound system, SiriusXM 360L satellite radio, and Adaptive Cruise Assist with lane guidance and hands-on detection.

What Audi A3 do most buyers choose?

The Audi A3 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right price, color, and equipment combination. They also sit close to the newest model years, so you can shop for newer features without moving all the way to the highest-priced examples.

What is the Audi A3's resale value?

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want to benefit from softer pricing. The biggest drops are in the double digits, while a few years are falling by smaller amounts and one year is slightly up. That mix suggests you can still find value across the lineup, especially if you’re flexible on model year.

The 2023, 2016, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Audi A3 safe?

• 2025: 8/10
• 2022: 9/10
• 2016: 8/10
• 2015: 8/10

Audi Pre Sense Front, rear cross-traffic alert, a vehicle exit warning system, and Audi Side Assist blind-spot monitoring are standard on the 2025 A3.

For the safest used buy, the 2022 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
