• Jetta GLI: The 2022 model now includes the formerly optional Autobahn Package as standard equipment, bringing perforated leather upholstery, a new steering wheel with gloss black touch-sensing buttons, and the model’s top-positioned equipment set. This is the best-value choice if you want the fullest feature set in one trim.

What Volkswagen Jetta GLI do most buyers choose?

What is the Volkswagen Jetta GLI's resale value?

Most of the model years in this set are moving lower year over year, which can work in your favor if you’re shopping used. One year is still rising, so pricing is not moving in a single direction across the board. The 2017, 2024, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Volkswagen Jetta GLI now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −8.32% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −1.94%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 35.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 35.4%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $27,583. The Volkswagen Jetta GLI offers a sporty sedan character with everyday practicality and a driver-focused feel.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Unlike the standard Jettas, which get a new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine for 2022 sourced from the company's Taos SUV, the Jetta GLI continues with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine powering the front wheels through a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), and it makes 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm.
• Tech: In any case, the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the GLI does include App Connect with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, so you can run navigation through your smartphone, and the GLI features SiriusXM 360L satellite radio, wireless charging, and a nine-speaker Beats Audio premium sound system.
• Safety: Volkswagen improves the new Jetta GLI’s safety technology in 2022, adding the automaker’s IQ Drive collection of driver assistance features, including Travel Assist and Emergency Assist.
• Starting price: Every 2022 Jetta GLI now includes the formerly optional Autobahn Package as standard equipment, so this performance-tuned version of VW’s compact car now sits squarely at the top of the model lineup with a base price of $30,995.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
