The Toyota Tacoma's current nationwide average price is $31,922, and its lowest point over the past year was $30,578. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Are Toyota Tacoma models reliable?

The Tacoma has a strong reputation for reliability, durability, and long-term value, and owners repeatedly praise its rugged build and dependable day-to-day use. Expert reviews also consistently highlight its toughness and resale strength.

• Owners rate the Toyota Tacoma between 4.2 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is generally tied more to condition, mileage, and maintenance history than to the Tacoma nameplate itself, so a careful inspection and vehicle-history check still matter.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0)
• Infotainment: Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: According to the EPA and the test truck’s window sticker, the TRD Pro should have returned 23 mpg in combined driving. Driving only in Eco mode, we observed 17.5 mpg on our Southern California fuel economy testing loop. During a drive to the far reaches of metro Los Angeles to an off-highway vehicle park, the Tacoma averaged 17.6 mpg in a mix of city, highway, and off-road driving.

Which Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota Tacoma offers these trims:

What Toyota Tacoma do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Tacoma years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

Higher-volume years usually draw more shoppers because they offer a wider selection of trims, prices, and mileage levels. That makes it easier to compare options and find a Tacoma that fits your budget and feature priorities.

What is the Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

Most Tacoma model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want to benefit from softer pricing. The changes are generally modest, with only one year showing a gain. That pattern suggests the Tacoma continues to command strong demand while still offering some room for buyers to negotiate.

The 2014, 2021, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
