The Toyota Camry's current nationwide average price is $22,739, and its year-round low is $20,717.02. That puts the model's pricing in a fairly tight band for shoppers comparing used examples across recent years. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.
Is the Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — the Toyota Camry is a strong used-car pick if you want a sedan that consistently earns high owner approval for comfort, reliability, and everyday usability. The all-generations owner rating is 4.46/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners repeatedly praise the Camry for its reliability, smooth ride, spacious interior, and fuel efficiency. Across the model years, the Camry also stands out for its practical, easy-to-live-with character and broad value. Expert reviews rate the 2015 and 2025 models among the highest across all years.
The main tradeoffs that show up in recent expert reviews are uninspired styling, limited cargo space, and a stereo that is lacking. Those are the kinds of compromises you accept when you prioritize comfort, efficiency, and dependability over flash.
30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Toyota Camry models reliable?
Owners consistently describe the Camry as reliable, comfortable, and easy to live with, and expert reviews reinforce that it delivers a smooth, practical driving experience. The model’s long-running reputation is built on everyday durability, strong fuel efficiency, and a calm ride.
- Owners rate the Toyota Camry between 4.4 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is generally low when you choose a well-kept example with a clean history and regular maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Camry?
Across all model years, at 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 90.7% |
| 2025 | 89.4% |
| 2024 | 85.8% |
| 2023 | 79.6% |
| 2022 | 71.8% |
| 2021 | 61.9% |
| 2020 | 56% |
| 2019 | 52.7% |
| 2018 | 50.4% |
| 2017 | 49.4% |
| 2016 | 47.1% |
| 2015 | 46% |
| 2014 | 45.4% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2023 models.
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0)
- Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy ranges from 43 mpg to 51 mpg in combined city and highway driving, depending on the trim level and drivetrain configuration.
Which Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2026 Toyota Camry offers...
- LE: This is the entry point to the lineup and gives you the Camry’s core hybrid setup in the most accessible package.
- SE: This trim adds a sport-tuned suspension, making it a strong choice if you want a more engaging feel without moving up the range.
- Nightshade Edition: This trim adds satin black 19-inch wheels, gloss-black exterior detailing, and a black interior with SofTex artificial leather upholstery; it should appeal if you want the most distinctive look.
- XLE: This trim adds a more upscale feel and includes the touch-sensing steering wheel mentioned in the safety content.
- XSE: This trim adds the touch-sensing steering wheel and the sport-tuned suspension, making it the best-value choice if you want a blend of style, equipment, and driving polish.
What Toyota Camry do most buyers choose?
The Toyota Camry years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2026.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 9,651 | 33.1% |
| 2025 | 9,644 | 32.5% |
| 2026 | 7,635 | 32.5% |
| 2023 | 6,139 | 32.1% |
| 2022 | 4,418 | 30.5% |
| 2021 | 3,163 | 28% |
Those high-volume years tend to be popular because they give you the broadest mix of availability, pricing, and equipment. When more listings are on the market, you usually have a better chance of finding the color, trim, and condition you want.
What is the Toyota Camry's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $29,662 | −5.62% |
| 2022 | $23,567 | −2.61% |
| 2021 | $21,792 | −2.59% |
| 2024 | $26,601 | −2.08% |
| 2020 | $20,440 | −1.97% |
| 2019 | $18,988 | −1.5% |
| 2023 | $25,168 | −1.21% |
| 2014 | $11,891 | −0.39% |
| 2018 | $17,886 | −0.26% |
| 2017 | $15,140 | +1.1% |
| 2015 | $13,170 | +2.31% |
| 2016 | $13,939 | +3.42% |
Most Camry model years are moving lower year over year, which is helpful if you want to buy used while prices are easing. A few older years are rising, so the market is not moving in one direction across the board. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newer models, while some older examples are showing modest gains.
The 2014 and 2018 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.
The 2016, 2015, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) is standard on every 2026 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, road-sign assist, and high-beam assist. For the safest used buy, the 2018 and 2019 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.
Should I buy a used Toyota Camry now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −5.62% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −2.08%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 32.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.1%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $26,601. The Toyota Camry offers a comfortable ride, spacious cabin, and practical everyday usability.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The Camry combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a pair of electric motors to produce 225 horsepower in front-wheel-drive models, and all-wheel-drive versions add a third electric motor to bring output to 232 hp.
- Tech: Toyota equips the more affordable Camry models with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and the optional Drive Connect subscription adds cloud-based navigation, destination assistance, and an Intelligent Assistant conversational voice recognition system.
- Safety: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on every 2026 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, road-sign assist, and high-beam assist.
- Starting price: Prices range from $30,595 to $36,995, including the $1,295 destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2027 inventory to mature.

I absolutely love my 2021 Toyota Camry. From the moment I got it, I honestly fell in love with it. The car looks sporty and modern, but at the same time it’s very comfortable and smooth to drive. It feels reliable and safe, which gives me a lot of confidence, especially as someone still getting used to driving more often. The fuel efficiency is great, and the interior is clean and well-designed. Everything feels solid and easy to use. It’s definitely a great value for the price. If I had to mention something, I wish it had push-button start, but overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for something reliable, stylish, and comfortable.

A lot of people looking at a certain car for the lowest price end up getting the oldest/first year of a cars generation. Thats because its typically the least expensive year of that particular body style they are looking for. As someone whos sold many cars in the last decade I can assure you, that is typically a big mistake. They often have problems that automakers cant know about until thousands of people have driven them for tens of thousands of miles, or more. I wanted the most reliable car possible. Easy, right? Just buy a Toyota... right? No. Ive seen it with Toyota as well. Many times. So I purposely sought the most recent model year of a generation of cars that are widely considered the most reliable ever made. A 2017 Camry (non-hybrid), if treated well, can be counted on being driven for over 1 million miles without an engine rebuild. They are an engineering marvel of our time. The 2.5l 2AR-FE has to be the most bulletproof example of a gasoline engine to ever sit under a hood. The car itself is well designed and is a flawless performer in normal daily driving. The SE/XSEs in particular have a suspension that can take a quickly-turned corner without skipping a beat. The seats are very comfortable over long drives, but supportive when youre in the curves. It has large windows to avoid blind spots and has airbags in every direction. The crash tests show that its extraordinarily safe if the unthinkable occurs. Its simply a brilliant choice of car. And getting back to my first sentences, the 2017 model had it all nailed down after 6 years of getting closer and closer to perfection. Toyota could have gotten away with not redesigning it for several more years. Easily. However, being the most popular car in the United States is a challenge that requires not letting the customers get bored. So I suppose Ill forgive Toyota for not making the car longer. That said, any one of the years of the seventh generation Camry is a great car to own. But this last year is perfection. Its why I have one. Im proud & grateful to be the owner of a 2017 Camry SE. Ill likely drive it until the car or myself dies. Dont ask me which one will kick the bucket first though, because Im 42 and this engineering marvel of the auto world is only 7. Dont pass up a well treated one.

I absolutely love the features of my car. The push start, sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay are all fantastic. For the value, the car is a great choice. Being a Toyota, its built to last and is also very fuel-efficient. Both the exterior and interior are incredibly clean, which adds to its appeal. That said, there are a couple of things I wish were different. I’d love if the car had memory seats, and the display screen could be a bit more modern, especially compared to the ones in the Toyota Highlanders. Another small inconvenience is that, unlike the Highlanders where Apple CarPlay connects wirelessly through Bluetooth, my car requires the phone to be plugged in for CarPlay to work. While this isnt a huge issue, it would be more convenient if it were wireless like in the Highlanders. Overall, it’s a really cute car and an amazing choice for a first car. Im really happy with it!

Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Camry marks the start of the model’s ninth generation and arrives as a hybrid-only sedan. That alone makes it distinctive, especially for buyers who want a mainstream family car with a strong emphasis on efficiency. Toyota also gives it a new look, new features, and a new hybrid powertrain for 2025, helping the Camry reset its baseline as a high-selling midsize sedan.
Its appeal is rooted in the qualities that have long made the Camry a favorite among families: reliability, safety, and broad value. The 2025 model is described as competitively priced and fuel-efficient, and all-wheel drive is available on every trim. Those strengths make it easy to understand why it remains such a familiar choice for shoppers who want a practical sedan without giving up modern equipment.
There are a couple of drawbacks to keep in mind. The engine is noted as noisy, and the voice assistant can be finicky. Even so, the 2025 Toyota Camry’s combination of efficiency, updated tech, and no major deal-breaking flaws gives it a clear identity as a sensible, well-rounded sedan.
