Quirky but good power and great to drive. Particularly like the throttle-by-wire that has different sensitivity depending upon when 'sport' button is pressed.

We custom ordered this 9-5 arc from Sweden in 2004 and after 176,000 it is still going strong. Mobil1 0w 40 every 5,000 miles and routine transmission fluid flushed are the key. This is a great family/sports/luxury car that has been very reliable. Only had to replace the throttle body and ignition casset. Great car and I would highly recommend it.

Love that it has everything except ventilated seats! It has navigation, voice commands, rear seat DVD entertainment system, all wheel drive, amazingly unique stylling, power, heads up display, adaptive xenon head lights, 18" wheels. 2.8 liter Turbo charged V6. This car turns heads everywhere I go. "That's a really nice car!" the original MSRP was $54,000 and I got it in 2012 for $25,000.

Its quick holds a lot of cargo and carries 4 in great comfort or 5 with a squeeze. Its no stoplight racer but has enough power to enjoy and passing power is superb. Upgrades are easy as with most modern turbo cars and the biggest mods being needed are better downpipe and intercooler and 3 in exhaust and then a simple ecu tune and 300+ hp wagon is a reality. Gas mileage on highway is great avg 34+ mpg

Overview
The 9-5 Sport Sedan is hailed as Saab's flagship vehicle. This premium, mid-sized sedan replaced the 9000 in 1998 to much fanfare and began the 9- naming scheme that continues into the future.
Luxury features, a sophisticated look, and great crash-test results lend the 9-5 its popularity. Its main competition is the fellow Swede Volvo S60, plus the Audi A6, and the BMW 5. Although people tend to think of Volvo when automotive safety is brought up as a subject, Saab is the company that introduced active head-restraint technology.
Slightly larger than the 9-3 with a more powerful engine, it's the preferred choice of many an executive, or just those who like to treat themselves well. It is not available in a convertible, as the 9-3 is, but both the 9-3 and 9-5 have SportCombi (station wagon) versions. Each one has a turbocharged engine, of course.
9-5s have been used as official police vehicles in several locations, including the ski towns of Aspen and Vail in Colorado as well as some Swedish communities.
