Owners consistently praise its towing strength, spacious interior, and comfort. Many also appreciate the Cummins diesel engine and the available features that make it easier to live with every day, including upscale materials and useful storage solutions.
28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are RAM 3500 models reliable?
Owners and experts consistently praise the RAM 3500 for its strong performance, towing ability, and comfortable cabin. Across the model years in the data, it is especially well regarded for handling heavy loads and delivering the kind of capability buyers expect from a heavy-duty truck.
- Owners rate the RAM 3500 between 4.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most worth watching on higher-mileage trucks with heavy towing histories, so a careful inspection and service-record review can go a long way.

Love my new truck! It has space for the whole family. Works as hard as a man with two child support payments to two different baby mommas! And rides a lot better than I would have expected it would.

Why it stands out
The 2024 RAM 3500 stands out as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious capability with the kind of equipment buyers now expect in a daily driver. In this generation, Ram focused heavily on luxury and technology, and the truck gained a stronger frame, new suspension, and a new transmission for the Hemi models. It also brought LED lighting, a more aerodynamic design, and an interior that borrowed heavily from the Ram 1500, along with available features such as a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a 12-inch vertical infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 750-watt Harman Kardon 17-speaker audio system.
Capability remains the 2024 RAM 3500’s defining trait. The High-Output 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel inline six delivered 1,150 lb-ft of torque in 2024, and the truck could tow more than 35,000 pounds and carry nearly 8,000 pounds of payload when properly equipped. Ram also added lane keep assist, adaptive steering, and blind-spot monitoring in 2019, while 2023 brought a refresh that included a new digital cluster, an upgraded camera system, and a new trailer reverse steering system. There were no significant changes or upgrades for 2024.
That mix of strength and refinement makes the 2024 RAM 3500 appealing to buyers who need a true workhorse but do not want to give up comfort or modern tech. The tradeoff is that its gargantuan proportions can be difficult to manage in towns and cities, and the noisy diesel engine remains a drawback.
