What people are saying:

4.1

Plymouth cars are generally appreciated for their unique style, performance, and fuel economy. Owners often like the powerful engines and fun driving experiences, especially in muscle car models like the Barracuda and Road Runner. However, many drivers express concerns about reliability, especially in older models, with some reporting issues related to build quality and comfort. While certain models excel in fuel efficiency and ease of maintenance, they may lack modern features and face safety concerns, particularly those from the 70s and 80s. Overall, Plymouth vehicles are viewed as quirky and stylish options that appeal to enthusiasts but can come with their share of hiccups.

Reviewed a 1999 Plymouth Prowler on Apr 11, 2024

The Prowler has classic styling and was a low production run which makes it a unique car among boring also fans. It will stand out just like the 30s hot rods with a dependable drivetrain.

Reviewed a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda on Nov 9, 2010

Before I bought this car I was looking for an early 70's Le mans that was drivable, but that was original or close enough to original that I could work on it and make it my own. This is when I stumbled across this 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback for sale. I had always liked the style of MOPARS, especially the mid to late 60's, so I went to check it out. After forty odd years it understandably needed some work, but surprisingly the only thing I had to do to get the car running was put a new battery in it and it started right up. Everything from the wipers and horn to the brakes and the lights worked right off the bat. I still went through and replaced belts and other odds and ends as well as the master cylinder but it runs beautifully with under 2500 bucks in it. Considering performance, I didn't buy this with the intention of having a drag car or a track car so it doesn't post quick lap times and it's not a 10 second car. That being said I'm going to swap the 273 V8 that's in there now with a 440 and replace the 3 spd automatic with a 5 speed manual with an overdrive. Even then this is just my daily driver. Rain or shine this thing sees the road and after seven months of driving it has been incredibly reliable. Because of this I rate the build quality very high. Having to replace a few parts after 43 years isn't bad at all. Appearance wise this is one of my favorite cars of all time. Every detail of this car is done perfectly and I couldn't think of anything I'd want to change. I'm going to repaint this winter so that ought to sharpen it up a bit as well. My last vehicle was a 2003 Sierra 2500 so the gas mileage in the Barracuda is an improvement. It's certainly not a hybrid, but it's not a gas guzzler either. Since getting the car up to driving standards in the summer, I haven't had to buy a single replacement part. Just put gas in an it's ready to go. Even in the cold Indiana weather I've had so far this car fires right up. Lastly the fun factor. This car drives like an absolute dream. This car also turns heads every where I drive it, even in its rough condition. Aside from that, this car is a breath of fresh air from every mustang, camaro, and corvette you see at car shows or on the road. I've only seen a handful of road worthy Barracuda's around my area so it gives me that extra sense of pride knowing that this car is unique. I would be hard pressed to think of any other car, regardless of price, that I would rather be driving.

Reviewed a 1988 Plymouth Horizon on Apr 10, 2011

1988 Plymouth Horizon is my family car. It's a 4 door with a hatchback. It has red interior. It gets great gas milage. We fill it up on Thursdays ($25-$30). That gets us back and forth to work, to the grocery, or where ever we need to go until the next Thursday. I love my car!

Swapped a turbocharged engine from a 1988 Dodge Shadow into it, providing it with more than double the original power. The thing flies and handles like it's on rails. Decent gas mileage with highway gears, and still working the bugs out. Funnest car I've ever owned.
