The Nissan Altima's current nationwide average price is $17,024, and its lowest point over the past year was $16,877. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the Nissan Altima is a strong used-car pick if you want a comfortable, value-oriented midsize sedan with broad appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.5/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Altima for its comfortable ride, good fuel economy, and easy-to-live-with cabin. Across the model years, the recurring themes are comfort, efficiency, and everyday usability, with many shoppers also appreciating the car’s technology and safety features.

Expert reviews rate the 2016 and 2015 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs in recent expert reviews are pedestrian performance, interior materials that feel cheap, and technology that can feel dated in some trims. Even so, the Altima remains a practical choice if you want a sedan that delivers comfort and value without asking for much in return.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360

• SV: This is the best-value trim, adding a stronger mix of everyday equipment and broad appeal.
• SV Special Edition: This trim adds black wheels and a rear spoiler with comfort and technology upgrades, making it the Altima to get in 2025.
• SR: This sportier trim adds 19-inch wheels, sport suspension, brake-induced torque vectoring, and sport-bolstered front seats.

What Nissan Altima do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Altima years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

Higher-volume model years usually give you more shopping choice, which can make it easier to compare trims, colors, and prices. They also tend to be the years most buyers are cross-shopping, so you often see stronger deal activity.

What is the Nissan Altima's resale value?

Most Altima model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want prices that have softened. The biggest drops are in the double digits, while a few years are falling more gradually. The 2023 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2023, 2016, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
