Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360
• Infotainment: an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; SV Special Edition and SL models add a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, NissanConnect services, a navigation system, and a conversational voice assistant
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima AWD should get 28 mpg in combined driving, and our test car averaged 28.3 mpg on our mountainous Southern California testing loop. Without it, an Altima should get 31-32 mpg.

Which Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Altima offers these trims:

• S: The entry trim starts the lineup and gives you the Altima’s core sedan formula.
• SV: A value-oriented choice that can be upgraded with the SV Special Edition package.
• SV Special Edition: Adds black wheels and a rear spoiler along with comfort and technology upgrades, and it stands out as the trim to get in 2025.
• SR: Adds 19-inch wheels, sport suspension, brake-induced torque vectoring, and sport-bolstered front seats.
• SL: Brings the best safety features available for the Altima, plus the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, NissanConnect services, a navigation system, and a Bose premium audio system.

What Nissan Altima do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Altima years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to draw the most attention because they give you more listings to compare and more chances to find the right price and equipment mix. They also tend to be the easiest years to shop if you want a broad selection of trims and conditions.

What is the Nissan Altima's resale value?

Most Altima model years are moving lower year over year, which can work in your favor if you are shopping used. The table also shows one model year with a slight increase, while the rest are down by varying amounts. The biggest drops are in the double digits, so recent-year shoppers can find meaningful savings.

The 2023 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2023, 2014, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −10.58% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −8.27%.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Nissan equips every 2025 Altima with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. With front-wheel drive (FWD), it generates 188 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 180 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm. When you choose the optional AWD system, output drops to 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque.
• Tech: The standard setup has an 8-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. The Altima SV Special Edition and SL get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with modern graphics and added features.
• Safety: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every Altima. It equips the car with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic rear braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Starting price: Prices across the lineup range from $27,000 to $33,330, not including a destination charge of $1,140.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
