How much does the Nissan Altima cost in today's market?

Used Nissan Altima prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Nissan Altima's current nationwide average price is $16,965, and its lowest point over the past year was $16,930. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the Nissan Altima is a strong used-car pick if you want a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan with broad appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.5/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Altima for its comfort, fuel economy, and easy-to-use technology. Across the lineup, the cabin space, smooth ride, and everyday usability also come through as recurring strengths.

Expert reviews rate the 2016 and 2015 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs are the fairly pedestrian performance, the CVT’s effect on driving feel, and interior materials that can feel less polished than some rivals. Even so, the Altima remains an appealing used buy if you want a sedan that delivers a lot of practicality for the money.

What should I look for when buying a used Nissan Altima?

Across all model years, at 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360
• Infotainment: 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima AWD should get 28 mpg in combined driving, and our test car averaged 28.3 mpg on our mountainous Southern California testing loop. Without it, an Altima should get 31-32 mpg.

The 2025 Nissan Altima offers these trims:

• S: The entry trim gives you the core Altima formula and keeps the lineup accessible.
• SV: This trim adds a broader comfort-and-tech balance for shoppers who want a well-rounded daily driver.
• SV Special Edition: This new-for-2025 trim adds black wheels, a rear spoiler, and comfort and technology upgrades, making it the best-value trim.
• SR: This trim adds 19-inch wheels, sport suspension, brake-induced torque vectoring, and sport-bolstered front seats for a more athletic look and feel.

What Nissan Altima do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Altima years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

What is the Nissan Altima's resale value?

Most Altima model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want prices that have softened. The biggest drops are in the double digits, while a few years are falling more gradually. The overall pattern points to a market where buyers can find meaningful value, especially on recent models.

The 2023 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2023, 2016, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
