Used Nissan Altima for Sale nearCoeur D Alene, ID

How much does the Nissan Altima cost in today's market?

Used Nissan Altima prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Nissan Altima's current nationwide average price is $17,136, and its lowest point over the past year was $16,881. Recently, prices have come down for the 2024 and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the Nissan Altima is a solid used-car pick if you want a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan with broad appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.47/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Altima for its comfortable ride, strong fuel economy, and easy-to-use technology. Across the lineup, it also earns repeat praise for roomy cabins, smooth daily driving manners, and good value for the money.

Expert reviews rate the 2016 and 2015 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs that show up in newer expert reviews are pedestrian performance, interior materials that feel cheap, and technology that can feel dated in some trims. Even so, the Altima remains an easy sedan to live with if you want comfort, efficiency, and a straightforward ownership experience.

34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Nissan Altima models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Altima’s comfort, fuel economy, and everyday usability as its strongest traits. Across multiple model years, the car also earns praise for smooth driving manners and a practical, well-rounded character.

• Owners rate the Nissan Altima between 3.83 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully, especially on older examples where owner feedback and market history suggest you should pay close attention to maintenance records and vehicle history.

What should I look for when buying a used Nissan Altima?

Across all model years, at 73.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360
• Infotainment: 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima AWD should get 28 mpg in combined driving, and our test car averaged 28.3 mpg on our mountainous Southern California testing loop. Without it, an Altima should get 31-32 mpg.

Which Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Altima offers these trims:

• S: The entry trim gives you the core Altima formula and keeps the lineup accessible.
• SV: This is the best-value trim, balancing everyday comfort and equipment for shoppers who want a well-rounded choice.
• SV Special Edition: Adds black wheels and a rear spoiler, plus comfort and technology upgrades.
• SR: Adds 19-inch wheels, sport suspension, brake-induced torque vectoring, and sport-bolstered front seats for a more athletic look and feel.
• SL: Adds the most upscale equipment in the lineup, including the better infotainment setup and the strongest safety content.

What Nissan Altima do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Altima years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a strong mix of availability, newer features, and a wide spread of prices. More listings also make it easier to compare trims and find a deal that fits your budget.

What is the Nissan Altima's resale value?

Most Altima model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want prices that have softened. The table also shows one model year that is essentially flat, while the rest generally point to lower asking prices than a year ago.

The 2023 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2023, 2018, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Nissan equips every 2025 Altima with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and with front-wheel drive it generates 188 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 180 pound-feet of torque at 3,600 rpm.
• Tech: The Altima SV Special Edition and SL get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with modern graphics and added features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, NissanConnect services, a navigation system, and a conversational voice assistant that you activate by saying “Hey Nissan.”
