I bought the car brand new with only 12KM's on it and have over 800 now. I bought the 5 speed as i did not want the CVT. The car has adequate power and the handling is outstanding. Styling is better than any other car in the price range and is very comfortable even for me (6'5). The warranty is better than what other car manufacturers offer as well. Overall i am very satisfied with the Lancer and will continue to drive it.

A nice alternative to the all too common civic or corolla. I would describe the acceleration as adequate (hence 3 stars for performance). Handling has a definite sporty feel. Understeers quite predictably. Easy to drive at the limit. Smooth clutch operation, but shifter lacks the precision of a Honda’s. It shifts smoothly, but just not perfectly. Nice brake feel, easy to modulate. ABS really not necessary since the brakes have a very direct feel. So, this is a fun little car! Great mileage- 30+ on the highway. Just as with other small sedans, cost of ownership is very low. This is a practical, everyday car that has a bit of a sports car feel. If you are in the market for a civic, corolla, etc- don't forget to check out the lancer.

This is a second review of my car. I have owned the car since 7/5/08 and have put in some time really getting to know my car. In the first 2 years, for the most part I have only driven the car every weekday from my home to class which is 56.2 miles round trip and some days make the trip twice. Even though I have been putting my vehicle through all of this work, it has held up quite nicely and still feels like the first day I got it. As I've started to make some longer trips(NJ to Massachusetts or NJ to DC), I've felt some problems with some things about the car which I will mention later on in the review. Overall the car is a great car. It's acceleration depends really on the driver and how they shift. When I do get a little aggressive, the car doesn't really get a good amount of power till past 3000 rpm in every gear but I'm still able to get good speed if I shift well. Braking is very good and the brake pads are still holding up for me quite well. The car handles quite nicely. Around tight turns I feel like I have the control of a much smaller/shorter vehicle sometimes and even when turning at higher speeds the car seems to handle fine. The car's build is overall good. There are rattles from the doors either because of the windows or from the plastic covers over the speakers. The window rattles don't do any damage to the vehicle or window itself but once it did come off of the tracks. Warranty covered this for me. After almost 2 and half years, I still love the look of the car. The aggressive shark style front of the car looks nice even for the ES compared to the GTS, Ralliart, or Evo. And it still has a professional look to the car even though it still has an aggressive look to the entire car. The interior looks nice overall. Everything is neatly arranged and has a clean look. My only complaints are that the arm rest is slightly too short and the seats get somewhat uncomfortable like the lack of lumbar support and the edge of the seat starts to dig into the back of your legs after sitting for an extended period. Gas mileage is ok. Again it really depends on the driver. If you drive aggressively, most likely you will see average MPG under 22/30. On my more conservative drives, I have been able to get 26/41. I've never had to replace any parts yet. Driving the car is a good experience. It reacts well to roads, handles nicely, fun for spirited driving and rewarding for conservative driving, and only money I've HAD to put into the car is just for oil changes. The rattles get slightly annoying but doesn't affect my experience a lot.

The Mitsubishi Lancer compact sport sedan was introduced to the U.S. in 2002 as a replacement for the Mirage, but the Lancer was not a new car. It had earned its racing stripes as part of Mitsubishi's international rally competition for nearly 30 years, and was actually on its sixth generation when it finally appeared in America's showrooms.
Because the Lancer replaced what was considered an economy car, it probably was not fully appreciated in its early years. But it quickly established itself as a true street-legal racer, thanks not only to the Lancer itself, but also to its turbocharged, more sport-oriented cousin, the Lancer Evolution.
In its first year the Lancer was offered in three trim packages - the entry-level ES and the higher-end LS, as well as the OZ Rally. Power was provided by a 120-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline four cyclinder engine linked to a five-speed manual transmission.
A more powerful 162-horsepower Ralliart version of the Lancer was added in 2004, and the vehicle received a complete redesign with the 2008 model, which has been receiving rave reviews. The 2008 model is equipped with an all-new, all-aluminum 2.0-liter MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control) four-cylinder powerplant that delivers 152 horsepower. It also comes with an expanded list of standard features and options.
