2006 Mercury Mariner Hybrid 4WD Review
by sammy_d

Excellent value

The interior stying is a little plain, though I do like the exterior looks of this vehicle. Still, I'm growing to really like it! Pleasant to drive, and have I mentioned I'm super excited about the gas mileage? I've received feedback that sitting in the driver's side back seat that the traction battery fan noise is noticeable.

Avg. Dealer Rating: (10 reviews) "I purchased a 2007 Honda Civic from this dealer. A few days after I purchased the car I filled the gas tank completely for the first time. I noticed a very strong gas odor and a puddle of gas had accumulated beneath the vehicle. I had a few of my family members take a look at the car and we all concluded there was a very obvious gas leak. The warranty on this car model was actually extended because of the detective gas tank issues owners were experiencing. When I purchased this car it was a couple thousand miles over the warranty. If the dealers had done their research they could of handled this issue free of charge with Honda before the warranty expired. https://www.cars.com/articles/2011/12/honda-extends-fuel-tank-warranty-on-80000-2006-11-civic-hybrids/. On initial post of my review, the dealer contacted me multiple times within a day trying to get me to remove my review claiming it was "unfair" questioning whether I had caused this gas leak. I took the car to my family mechanic, who I have done business with for years and trust. The mechanic confirmed what was already very obvious, that the gas tank had a leak. Due to the erosion of the cracks on the gas tank, my mechanic also informed me this is a not a new issue. The dealer did offer for me to take my car to his mechanic, but he did not offer any discount what so ever on the repair. All the dealer offered was a free consultation on the vehicle, which my mechanic had already provided. The dealer was very adamant on me taking the car to his mechanic, which I perceived as unnecessary since he offered no discount on the repair, and my car was already in the shop being repaired. The dealer tried to make it seem as my mechanic had no idea what he was talking about and only his mechanic was an "expert on the issue", gas cannot leak from many places and my mechanic is very experienced and this is a known public issue with the cars. I perceived this as an attempt to either have his mechanic benefit from the repair or to persuade me from confronting this issue. I am completely appalled that the dealer has offered zero apology for this occurrence, and instead has tried to insinuate that I am making this up. I am shocked the dealer is trying to blame me for this issue, and trying to pass me off as a liar instead of at least issuing an apology for this great inconvenience. The dealer is claiming this is an unfair review, but this review is 100% my factual experience, and despite the dealers constant requests I will not remove my review and hide the real incidence I experienced. What is unfair is being promised a fully functional car with no issues, and then having to spend 700$ on a repair right after purchasing. The gas tank was a pre-exisisting issue that multiple mechanics at the shopped confirmed. I am extremely frustrated having the dealer trying to blame me for a car I bought with a mechanical issue already existing, and also trying to insinuate that I, a fair consumer is lieing by writing "gas leak" in quotations. It is obvious this dealer likes to blame instead of offering a simple apology and that they go to all lengths in order to silence a bad review. "

The second time he was so vague I decided I was not interested. I do not have the time to waste this way."
