2012 Mazda MAZDA5 Sport Review
by javaman78

Mazda5...wish I had two of them.

The Mazda5 is fun to drive, responsive and looks good. It hauls the five of us with comfort. It's is perfect for everyday running. Sport model comes with decent options. Sound system is good. I average 20-22 mpg with my stop and go city driving only commute. Climate control works well. Had windows tinted (after market) like a real minivan and that ...

Avg. Dealer Rating: (18 reviews) "The 2007 BMW 328i is advertised as having approximately 50k miles. The car fax reflects that regular maintenance was completed at the BMW dealership. The sales manager at Exclusive Motorsports, (KP), said he had receipts showing all maintenance completed by the BMW dealer. KP also told me that the car drove just like you'd expect a BMW to drive. The pictures shown on CarGurus indicate the car is in really good condition. After reviewing the ad; car fax; speaking with KP; speaking with the salesperson, (Walter); and having Walter send me additional pictures, I decided to drive approximately four and a half hours to purchase the car. I felt very good about it, based in the service history, pictures, and conversations with KP and Walter. However, when I arrived at the dealership, I was very disappointed. The paint was in poor condition, with multiple scratches and spots where the clear coat was peeling off. The door handles, including the exterior key hole, had been painted over. Rubber seals around the windshield and rear glass were badly deteriorating and had spots with quarter inch gaps. The wood trim on the dash was badly cracked and looked like someone had hit it quite hard. The driver seat bolster nearest the door was badly worn and had been poorly repaired. (Walter sent several pictures of the seat and initially told me he could not see any wear. After sending additional pictures, he said he could just barely see it.). Additionally, the driver side floor mat was badly worn. Normally, I would just walk away from a car that looked this bad. But, after traveling so far, I took it for a short test drive. During the test drive, it was obvious that something was wrong with the clutch and / or transmission. Every time I released the clutch, I felt a shudder through the clutch pedal. When I told KP, he indicated he had felt that when he drove it too. Yet, he told me the car drove exactly as you would expect a BMW to drive. I don't expect a BMW clutch to shudder - especially not with only 50k miles. My perception is that the car has sustained a lot more wear and tear than what would be normal for a well maintained car with only 50k miles. For me, this car would only be worthwhile if you could get it for a couple thousand dollars. At that price point, you could treat it like a "beater", gut it and use it as a track car, or invest a lot of time and money to repair it. This experience has caused me to feel that I should be extremely cautious about any automobile for sale that's not close enough to easily inspect in person and easy to get a professional prepurchase inspection. I would never again consider traveling any significant distance to see a car, unless it's listed with a well known and reputable dealer. KP and Walter knew that I was looking for a very nice car and they knew I would be investing an entire day to see the car. Despite this, they failed to provide an accurate representation of the condition of the car. I will never again consider a purchase from Exclusive Motorsports. "
