What should I look for when buying a used Land Rover Defender?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen that continues to integrate wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Which Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2026 Land Rover Defender offers these trims:

• Defender 90: The two-door body style suits you if you want the classic Defender shape in a more compact package.
• Defender 110: The four-door version adds broader everyday usefulness and is the best-value choice for most shoppers.
• Defender 130: The stretched four-door body style adds more room and a more family-friendly layout.
• Defender Octa: The high-performance model adds a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, wider ride height and track width, 6D Dynamics suspension, and optional 33-inch all-terrain tires for buyers who want the most extreme capability and performance.
• Defender Trophy Edition: This special edition adds Sandglow Yellow paint and a Camel Trophy-inspired look for shoppers drawn to the most distinctive heritage styling.
• Defender X: This version adds more black trim, including a blackout treatment for the front fascia and hood, for a darker, more aggressive appearance.

What Land Rover Defender do most buyers choose?

The Land Rover Defender years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right price, color, and configuration. They also sit in the part of the lineup where the Defender’s core appeal is already well established.

What is the Land Rover Defender's resale value?

Most model years show double-digit year-over-year price declines, which creates a favorable setup for used buyers. The newer end of the lineup is falling too, but by a smaller margin than the older years in this table. That means you can find meaningful savings across much of the range while still shopping a vehicle with strong appeal.

The 2025, 2023, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
