Used Kia Sportage for Sale nearJacksonville, FL

How much does the Kia Sportage cost in today's market?

Used Kia Sportage prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Kia Sportage's current nationwide average price is $20,891, and its lowest point over the past year was $19,711. Recently, prices have come down for the 2025 and 2026 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the Kia Sportage is a strong used-SUV choice if you want comfort, space, and a generous feature set. The all-generations owner rating is 4.5/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Sportage for its comfortable ride, spacious cabin, and strong value. Across the model years, reviewers also repeatedly highlight its stylish design, smooth handling, and useful features, especially in all-wheel-drive versions.

Expert reviews rate the 2017 and 2022 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs show up in performance and refinement on some recent versions, where the driving experience is described as fairly pedestrian and the base powertrain can feel less eager than the rest of the package. Some recent trims also bring a value equation that depends heavily on how much equipment you want.

35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Kia Sportage models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Sportage’s comfort, practicality, and strong value as core strengths. The model also earns praise for its roomy cabin, easy-to-use features, and family-friendly character across many years.

• Owners rate the Kia Sportage between 4 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking service history carefully, especially on older examples where the data shows higher accident rates and some years have more ownership concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used Kia Sportage?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 78.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, and front and rear parking sensors.

• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen are standard, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard as well.

• Fuel efficiency: EPA fuel-economy ratings for the non-hybrid Sportage are 28 mpg combined (25 mpg city, 33 mpg highway) with FWD and 26 mpg combined (24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway) with AWD. Unless you opt for the Sportage X-Pro, that is. It’s rated at a lower 24 mpg combined (23 mpg city, 26 mpg highway). The other powertrain options are more efficient—the FWD Sportage hybrid is rated at 42 mpg combined, and the plug-in hybrid gets up to 34 miles of all-electric—but these numbers are comparable to the non-hybrid competition.

Which Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2026 Kia Sportage offers these trims:

• LX: The entry point with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder, standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen, plus the core driver-assistance suite; a smart pick if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup.
• EX: Adds more comfort and convenience equipment, and it’s a strong value choice if you want a better-equipped Sportage without moving too far up the price ladder.
• SX: Brings a more premium feel and the Harman Kardon audio system, making it a good fit if you want a richer cabin experience.
• SX-Prestige: Adds more upscale equipment and is available with AWD, making it the trim to consider if you want a more fully loaded Sportage.
• X-Line: Adds different front and rear bumpers, a tread-like stitching pattern for SynTex upholstery, and standard AWD, giving you a more distinctive look and added capability for everyday use.
• X-Pro Prestige: The most expensive non-hybrid trim, with all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels and the X-Pro’s off-road-focused tuning; it suits you if you want the most rugged-looking Sportage and are willing to pay for it.

What Kia Sportage do most buyers choose?

The Kia Sportage years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with strong deal shares, giving you more choices at prices that still feel competitive. They also sit in the sweet spot where newer features and wider inventory overlap.

What is the Kia Sportage's resale value?

Most Sportage model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want more value for your money. A few years are falling sharply, while one recent year is still edging up, so the pricing picture is mixed but generally favorable for buyers.

The 2024, 2016, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Kia Sportage now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2026 model is at −9.46% versus a year ago, and the 2025 model is at −5.36%.
• Deal availability: The 2026 model has 37.5% good and great deals, and the 2025 model has 37.4%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $25,826. The Kia Sportage offers a roomy cabin and a comfortable, family-friendly character that make it easy to live with every day.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2026 Sportage is available with conventional gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, and the non-hybrid models use a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen are standard, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard.
• Safety: Higher trim levels also feature adaptive cruise control synced with the navigation system to provide smoother driving through curves, and the even more advanced Highway Driving Assist system, which adds automated lane centering.
• Starting price: Pricing starts at $30,135 for a FWD Sportage LX.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
